Snow Tire/Chains Cruise

Anyone want to go for a cruise today. Bust out the snow tires and or chains.

I am guessing the 12 inches of snow we are expecting in the NJ/NY area would be about a third of the way up my door.

Maybe we should error on the side of caution and have a lead cobra with a plow on it.

Come on out, I'll take the ERA out in just about anything.........I'm even taking the 87 F250 plow truck home so I can get the Cobra back in the garage afterwards :JEKYLHYDE

No, just continuing my (where do you think you guys got the idea from ;))original new years day run (since 1979) with the top down............

Snow wise, 7.5 inches here so far, another 10-16 inches expected locally. Had the ERA out when it was only 4 inches, wife would not come outside to take a picture of me going down the road though, "smart wife, crazy husband" she says :D

We have about 14 on the ground right now in DC with another 4-6" to go I would guess, but hard to say. They say it will be 18-20" when we are done here.

As for the Cobra in the snow, what's not to love about light car, wide tires, lots of torque and no top in a snow storm?

I am not that crazy. I drove the wife's A4 to the CACC breakfast this AM. Plus I don't want to get all of that salt sh!t on the cobra either. Not easy to wash your car by hand in the winter, so I'd just assume keep it clean.

Where I grew up (WA), we had snow but they just put down sand, no salt. But people around here panic and drive like idiots, so probably wouldn't work, or they'd sue the gov for not doing the max to melt the snow. What was that thread about lawyers in DC?

You should join us for the New Year's Day Cruise.

They put something down that seems even worse than salt. On the news last night they showed the huge piles of the stuff and it was a emerald green color. I don't know what it is, but it's bad, bad, bad.

But I'm sure it's not bad for us at all to have that stuff being washed into the sewers by the ton%/....

I have heard that the green color comes from an additive that is a by-product of the molasses making process. They found it lowers the temp at which water freezes making salt more effective.

-See Pat, no problem. You can bake it into your Xmas cookies to add that touch of molasses. It will give you something to take your mind off the cobra in the bubble. ;)

Tasty. ERA732 is snug as a bug in a rug in her little carbag. She'll emerge from her cocoon when the warmth of Spring is upon us.;)
