Please show some respect

Many of our fellow citizens will be grieving this week over the loss of their loved ones. Those of us lucky enough to have not lost anyone should show those who did a little respect.
If the professionals can postpone this weekends events,MLB,NFL,NASCAR certainly you trophy chasers can sacrafice one Sunday and stay home with your wife and children.

I respectfully disagree.

Cranky:

I understand where you are coming from. There are two ways to look at this. One is to sit home and say I'm doing this out of respect for those lost. My respect for those lost and feelings as to them are the same whether I choose to go out to an event still scheduled to take place or not.

The other view is to go on with life as normally as possible in defiance of what these bastards are looking to accomplish. That of causing people to shut down their lives and live life differently. The other positive reason to go to a gathering such as the car show is that it will allow people to get together and discuss their thoughts and feelings regarding the attack. What do you think will be the main topic of discussion there on Sunday? I'm actually just looking foward to the distraction and the opprotunity to talk to guys who have an interest in common with me. Its not about trophy chasing.

By going on with our lives undeterred as possible I think we are showing respect to those lost. We are showing that we are determined not to let these bastards win. That we will not cower. that we will not let our lives be changed. That we will not be defeated. I think those that were lost would be in favor of that idea.

Finally, we got a message in our mailbox requesting that everyone light candle out side at nine o'clock to night in rememberance. We will. Please do also.

This tradgedy definately has stirred much emotion in all of us. I think this small event is a perfect opportunity for us to show mutual support for each other. I try to stay un-opinionated but for those of you who don't think we should go, just stay home. I worked in WTC4 for three years and it just as easily could have been me, let alone ANY of us. I refuse to let those bastards keep me in my house. It also shouldn't make us argue over how each of us deals with the stress we are feeling.

Roger,

While I understand where you are coming from, the only real reason why all of the larger events have been cancelled is because of security issues..I cannot say any more than that, but know from others that this is what is behind most cancellations..........

Sunday Sept 16

Evan:

Sorry not to be at Trebour on Sunday...out of respect for a neighbor...he was the First Officer on the United flight... I stayed close by. I agree with you I wished I could have had a diversion.
