Yellow623 hesitating at last ride

If you guys remember on our last run to Frenchtown the car was hesitating a bit and generally not running right. I found the problem let me know what you think.

My coil is a ford motorsports. Not MSD, nothing fancy(I dont think).
The posts are not screw type though. They are round, clip on. I have never seem them before. The wires on the coil have always been pretty loose and I am guessing that the engine vibration was creating very small gaps which would create an arc that would produce heat....this escalated until the heat became too much and started to melt the clip(Im guessing the wrong clip) When I got back from our ride, The clip was all burnt up, hanging by a thread. I replaced this clip with new(wrong one) and the symtoms disappeared. My question is, what is the right clip? Do you think this bad connection on the coil could have damaged anything else?

AND lately, my tach after the car got hot would start to bobble and cut on and off. Do you think that a loose coil connection would produce that behavior, but still allow the car to run?

I appreciate you guys looking at this.

I replaced the starter solenoid, and for the hell of it I replaced the Ford Motorsports coil with a MSD coil. The car started fine, runs fine and now I dont have to worry about having a headache next spring upon first startup. The above post does not tell the whole story...I had the car sitting for a couple days during a few rainy days. When the rain subsided, a went in the garage to check on the car and start it. I had the battery cutoff switch disconnected and when I connected the battery the car immediately started cranking...I ripped the cutoff key out of the switch and I was holding the red key in my hand and the car was still cranking over. I grabbed the key in the ignition and was holding that in my hand and the car was still cranking over. I didnt know what to do, I was spooked. I fiddled with the key and finally the car stopped cranking. I was now sitting in the drivers seat, freaked out and the silence was deafening. Looking back, it was actually pretty funny. Its good to have her back. Nothing worse than an electrical problem.

Wanted to thank Rick Parker and Roscoe for their help. If you guys read this I truly appreciate the help.
