What engine issues did you have? I will be going through this hopefully in October with a 65-427 S/O. Did you need a PCV valve?

Today marks the second straight time I had to reschedule the inspection due to rain  . I'll try again next week.

The engine issue had to do with documentation for the year it was manufactured. Not only did they want a signed affidavit from the engine builder as to the origin of the engine, but the letter must specifically note the date of manufacture for the engine.

How does the DMV treat someone (not just in NJ) that has legally registered a pre seventies engined replication Cobra but once registered damaged/destroyed the 'old' block beyond repair and went to an aftermarket new block? This may or may not affect the current registered owner if no disclosure is made during required inspections but the next owner of said car could be in for an expensive and disappointing registration mess.

Therefore, when you renew the registration ask for the voucher and bring it down to the DMV in July. But the question remains, how did your inspection sticker get out of synch with your registration?

What are you.....a lawyer?

I renewed and recieved my new registration. I have not seen a "voucher" for the inspection. What I was told when I had my first inspection was to keep the form with the bar code from when I orginally registered and inspected. That would be all that was needed to reinspect.

I have had to get my collector registration twice- when I first registered the car, and then 2 years ago when I had to renew it. Each time I did it in person at the local DMV office and each time they gave me a collector voucher which they told me I had to bring to the DMV inspection station.

The first time I had mine inspected they also told me to keep the bar codes from the sheet, but they said that was so that they could refer back to it to verify mileage, not to use as permanent proof of collector status. PLus, I think the collector voucher costs an extra $10 on top of regular registration. So unless you pay the extra $$ and get the voucher, you may not be able to get the DMV inspection station to give you the collector sticker. In short, I think when you go to DMV inspection station they will ask for the voucher.

Sal - I have yet to personally make it to inspection, but from what I hear from others, the one thing they will definitely be looking for is a PCV valve.

They will look to see that the engine has all of the emission control equipment that an engine of that year would have had on it when it left the factory.

Voucher

You must go to DMV to get voucher. There's no other way. Plan on every two years when you need to renew to go to DMV and you have to ask for the voucher.
Just went through this.
