NJ Insurance

Called my insurance company today to inquire about insuring the ERA Cobra. (I know I have about a year to go before I get it, but like to have my "ducks in a row") They will only provide liability insurance, so that's out.

I did a search of the threads for insurance in NJ, but they seem to be a few years old. Can anyone provide me with information on insurance, say rates and contact numbers for a carrier/agent?

Ray,

Call Condon Skelly

1-800-257-9496.

Get an agreed upon value - Collectible vehicle policy.

The policy will limit you to 2,500 miles per year.

The policy is underwritten by MetLife Auto & Home.

No need to call them until the build is near complete.

Thanks for the great responses!

I guess I will check out these companies about a month before my car is due to be ready.

Why wait? If your garage burns down, will your home owners policy cover the Cobra? Collector car insurance is cheap.

I also used American Collectors...I called a ton of carriers (I'm in the insurance field)...and most were way too restrictive (you can't ever drive it to work or on an errand, etc. or you have no coverage)...American Collectors had good service and decent coverage but it was expensive (mine is nearly $900 for 5,000 miles per year and some other add ons...)

Good luck...the process was not fun...

wtm442, I don't have my car yet, just left a deposit to get it built at ERA.

raclaims, would you mind at all sharing anything else about your experience? I'd certainly appreciate having an idea of what I would be up against. Thanks

Ray

I could swear that I hit reply...guess I didn't...I shot you a PM...this process was really painful and I hated every second of it...I can get business policies in the millions with way greater ease than a simple auto policy!

I didn't reach out to Classic Insurance...they are a board sponsor...you may want to give them a shot too...I just didn't realize they were an option when I was doing it. Maybe at renewal time??

If you run into problems let me know we can help you. We have different mileage tiers and deductible options. Ask a lot of questions from the company as some items posted here are not actually correct when it comes to how a vehicle can be used. Make sure you are getting what you think you are getting.
