New Wannabe Owner

Let me take a minute to introduce myself, My name is Kevin Kintner, I am 21 years old, and yes I know I am young. I currently own 4 late model Mustangs and I am thinking of selling 2 of them to help fund the dream of owning a Cobra. I have done a lot of searching on the net and in magazines for the last few years and also lurking on the message boards. I know I need to vist some factories but based on what I have seen Unique is my top choice. I have considered FFR but, I believe for me to be happy with the car I will spend just as much as if I go with an Unique. I am still undecided on what I want to build exactly weather it be a 289 FIA or a 427. I was just hoping someone could give me some comments on there experiences. I would love to hear pros and cons. What you would do differently the next time. Also if anyone is in the Charlotte, NC area and wouldn't mind showing me their car I would really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,
Kevin Kintner

Depends on what you want to do.

Personally, I like the race chassie with a body placed on top. I don't really care for the Mustang II make overs.

What in the wide world of sports are you doing with four mustangs at 21? Shouldn't you be off trying to get yourself in the same situation most of the people on this form are in?

LOL

Good luck and have fun. That's the most important thing, have fun.

What years are your Mustangs?

Having one big block and 1 1/2 small blocks and driven several others of each, Iwould take the small block any day of the week for fun, handling, weight balance, cost , parts, you name it. I have nothing AGAINST big blocks at all. I just find that I have all the power I need and better driveability. Besides, the FIA body style is the ultimate look, I think.

Kevin, check out "Cars for sale" here and look at the Unique 289 FIA Jeff Karnitz has for sale. This is his 7th build and it looks fantastic. If I saw it sooner, I would have been very tempted to spend a few dollars more to get his car. It has all the right stuff. Fia cars are great. I know the owner of Jeff's 6th build and that car was used on Uniques poster. He is happy with it and it looks great also.

Scuba Steve, you should take a drive up to Ashland and see York Sports Cars. York has been assembling Cobras for years. He could give you a lot of info.

NCStanger,

Unique is a terrific choice for many reasons. There are many other good replicas out there, but if built properly, you can't go wrong with the Unique product. Plus, the level of customer service from Unique is second to none. There is a good reason why they have been building Cobra replicas since 1977, when so many others have come and gone.

Obviously, I sound self-serving because I own one, and while I might have been happy with other quality replicas, I certainly don't want to part with this one, now that I have experience with it.
