Weber Filters

Has anyone used these filters on a 48 IDA Weber

I am looking for filter that do not impact the mixture on these carbs.

I use them, not a problem.

Get the fine mesh, it keeps the Corvettes from being inhaled;)

spoke to Jim Inglese on this topic the other day. Said to use the wire mesh, wouldn't be a problem. He said the filters that sandwich foam betweem the screens should NEVER be used, the Webers just won't work with that much impediment to the air flow.

I have a sey of tea strainers, but I don't use them. The foam only keeps out the big stuff, like rocks, small birds, and BMW's. Initially, I tried cutting up a K&N flat filter, and putting the filter medium between the screens - instead of the foam. But the engine ate three of them, so I took the rest out.

As they arrive from Inglese, the tea strainers cost me 100hp. Yes, that's 100hp on the dyno. Ran it once, popped the filters off and ran it again. They cause a lot of restriction.

These are nice filters. I'm running them on a dual DCOE setup.
See pic.

That's what Jim Inglese told me; he sold his company years ago and now it is owned by Comp Cams. He is independent now ( www.jiminglese.com ) and was adamant that the tea strainers sold by his old company were bad news.

The tea strainers you are talking about are the ones that have 2 screens with a sheet of foam sandwiched in the middle. They are very restrictive. The ones in the picture are not. There is no difference when installing the stainless mesh filters. Just so we don't confuse the two.

I have yet to dyno my rig and fully intend to. With my previous Holly and air filter in place, I my rig made 392 RWHP at 6100. So, I'm interested in seeing what's up with these, with and without the strainers. I don't have the room for the K&Ns I tried.

I have them on my Dynatek system (EFI Webers), they do fine.

Suggest not driving down gravel roads or in the rain though.

Yes, I agree.
I run something these only in reddish-orange now.
They work fine, for my area.
