These thing will separate the men from the boys! This man is loading up as soon as the coffee is poured in his to go cup!!!!!!

Okay, heres what I did. I ran from the tank to a filter to a new Holley Blue to another filter, to a new low pressure Holley regulator, around the carbs through a bypass regulator from Kinsler preset to 2.8 psi, to a new braided steel line and back to the tank. You would think that would fix it right, wrong.

The pressure is now very tunable and steady. The fuel will be cool and flows a good volume through the return line. That is a huge accomplishment in and of itself but it still dripped. So I put a crush washer under each needle and seat to lower the floats and equal distance. And it worked!!!!!

I am going to take some measurements on these floats that anyone can easily take without the carbs taken apart and post for the next dumb ass that thinks he should run weber carbs!

sounds like you might have had a couple issues, those are the hardest.

Dean good luck. Read my post because they will stop and start if its the pump jet. We tried the washer as well and it fixed it only because they seated.

Alright. This is what happened. The 28 screws that hold the tops on have been in and out at least 15 times in the last few days. I have developed a medical condition called "Weber Back". The symptoms include the inability to stand straight up and severely stretched out hamstrings!:CRY::JEKYLHYDE

The floats were right, the needle and seats were sealing but we were still flooding. I had been cleaning my fuel filter after each run due to the aluminum shavings in the new tank. That was my fault. I drilled a few holes for AN fittings and, like a fool, I thought my filter would catch the dirt. Well it did but the Russell race filter was a 40 micron filter and it was just catching the big pieces. I had so much crap in the carbs that the needle and seat would get stuck open and not seat properly. That explains the fact the problem would come and go and show up in different carbs. I took all the carbs completely apart and cleaned them, put in a 2 dollar plastic filter right before the carbs and it fixed all but one! So now I start scratching my head. Well the needle and seat, with the crush washer, was setting the float all the way down in the bowl with no "float" and the needle was misaligned with the tang and gas was just running in. I took out the crush washers, set the floats to 4mm above the carb deck and, finally, problem solved.

Important note.

The Weber's were not the problem. They worked as they should. The problem was caused by something else. This is usually the case. I can't begin to tell you how many people told me to switch the intake and go to a four barrel. Well, I'm glad I didn't. To all of those guys, let me quote a famous bumper sticker and say, "Sit down, shut up and hold on!"

in the end, and looking back on my kirkham with a 427 and webers, I would definitly do it all again. It was by far the most fun part of the build despite the frustrations. besides, what else looks this good!

i think the efi filters are usually 100 pre pump and 10 post pump, webers would probably fall under this.

Good yhing you found the problem!

Good thing you didn't pull the Wber's.

Maybe I've spotted some females that might come close to the look of the Webers. Might.... Probably not.

Let us know if the problem continues which I sespect it problem will next year.

Some of us have been having this problem for sometime now. I have noticed that it has to do with the fuel blend. Add a Octane booster like the NOS and see if the problem goes away. The fuel that is blend in the winter does not cause this problem. Do a search on CC for this and I am sure you will find some interesting results.

You can always runn higher grade of octane which will also solve the problem.

What I do is turn off the fuel pump and run the carbs dry before I reach my destination.
