How to modify for new shorter velocity stacks
I have been running without filters for a while on the 48IDAs, no GOOD filters will clear from the stack to hood scoop. I tried. Its a modification I have put off for a while but I wish to go to smaller stacks to clear. Obviously, I have to modify the auxilary venturi for each carb - how do I accomplish this? Anything else to modify?
Anyone who did this who can give me a hint how to do it? |
You might want to check out the screens available on Jim Inglese's site. They fit down inside the stack without affecting the flow at all. Call Jim to discuss if you are concerned. They are awesome.

The spun velocity stacks he has with those stainless mesh screens are beautiful, I am still hitting the inside of the hood scoop though, so I will still have to make the stack change. Beautiful screens though...are the top of the screens level with the top of the velocity stack?

these are the same screens...

Xavier: Can you alter your motor mounts or souce some for a different application that would lower the engine a minor amount?
|
Xavier, I had the problem of stacks touching the cowl and needing to be shortened. Gene (Z-linkCobra) on this site cut mine down and he did a beautiful job. If I didn't tell you they had been cut, you would never know.
The critical thing for him to understand is the taper near the flange. With the right taper he can shorten them for you. I will try to contact him and you can message him as well. Good Luck Russ |
Thank you Russ....I appreciate that.
Xavier, How much room do you need? As Russ stated the the taper is a very important factor in shortening your stacks. Russ needed about a 1/2" for proper clearance and his taper was just right for me to take a 1/2 out. If you are interested in having them shortened you can give me a call and have a caliper handy....I will need you to give me some measurements. Gene 956-533-1205 |
