Webers on ebay
Hey guys, anyone have an opinion on this auction?
Complete Weber set-up off shelby cobra for Ford FE 390,427,428 | eBay Good price? Things to avoid or watch out for? I know its mech, not electronic. I asked the seller a question if they are 48's or ??? I don't know anything about Webers other than I love the look, and from reading other posts on this forum, it sounds like they run good once you get them dialed in. thanks in advance, Joe |
The old IDA's with the EW casting are a solid 500 value each, so the 2k is more that fair for a working system.

Hey Big Duece, thanks for the reply!
As I said, I know nothing about Webers. In your opinion, is the setup in the auction a good fit for a FE in a FFR roadster? I blew up my 455" FE at a track day, so I'm in the early stages of another FE build. Depending on which block I wind up with, it'll be ~450" with a stroker crank. Edel Perf RPM heads, MSD ign, TKO 600 w/3.27 IRS. Uncommitted on cam right now, other than it'll be a hydr roller. Was using Perf RPM intake and Holley DP, but when I see ads like this, I think about Webers. Thoughts? Thanks again, Joe |
I watch what they go for, but not up on the ford FE builds. Some others on here will chime in and guide you in the right direction. For 450ci, the 48 ida's with a good assortment of jets for tuning is a great start.

Joe,
Webers have their advantages and disadvantages. You may want to hold off on your cam selection until you decide because some cams work better than others with Webers. If you haven't already done it, read some of the longer Weber tuning threads here to get an idea of some of the tuning issues. It might also help to call someone like Jim Inglese to get a manifold that will work for you and to help with the initial tuning. They aren't for everyone, but there is no doubt that they are cool! :) |
Dallas,
Thanks! I see you have Weber's too. The setup on ebay is a FE intake, and the Weber's are tilted towards the middle, so I'm assuming thats what everyone refers to as the 10 degree tilt. I have scanned all of the Weber posts, there's a lot of good info there. If I go with Weber's, I'm sure I'll be using all of that info, along with getting some help. As far as cam, I did see in the posts that cam selection is important with Weber's, so I'll decide on cam after I decide on Weber's or not. Thanks! |
