need opinions 427w. with webers rough low rpm

Ok, so I have a factory five cobra with a 427w and jims webers. My question is, that it seems that its running rough at low rpm and I don't recall it being like this. Under 2500rpm it seems like it has mis to it. when you hold a steady rpm. On the freeway, I can feel this too. But if I hammer it or I am accelerating, its not so bad. No hesitation, popping etc. I just went out there and tried to tune the carbs some more to see if I had a lean spot, but it does not look that way. Am I tripping out, or is this something to worry about?

All ignition is msd with box.

I have noticed that if you cover up the scoop and don't force air onto the Webers the unevenness on steady gas goes away. Apparently there is too much turbulence over the Weber stacks. Webers have to draw air , not have it forced onto them.
I did that to my car and it worked.
Now, after fitting a wider scoop to make more space for the Weber stacks I did not cover up the new scoop and have that hesitation or miss or unevenness in the response on steady throttle again.

Since it ran OK before, and now it doesn't. I think that is what you are saying. You probably have a piece of debris in one of your idle jets. Pull them, blow them out. It does not take much to upset the low speed circuit.

The most important part of tuning any IR intake system is the balance. The balance has to be exactly right, or it will never run right and no amount of tuning wil overcome this. Oddly enough, this needs to be checked fairly often, like 1-2 times a year.

You need to use a tool like this one
