Where'd my fuel go?

To those who are or have experienced the dripping Weber syndrome

I don't see any drips, bubbles, or collection when I look down the throats after the car is stopped. I've checked repeatedly till the car cools and don't see problem. Yet after a day or so, the etube wells are dry.

Will the fuel evaporate out of the carbs this fast? I do get some fuel smell in the garage, but really not that bad or any worse than the Holley's I took off

Is this typical of webers?

Running on a FE, 10 degree canted manifold, using a 35 pump bleed to make sure the accel pump doesn't cook into the venturi, 1/4" phenolic spacers.

I think I've done all the things to preclude boil-over issues. And I don't see any signs of it, other than the missing fuel

Yes it does evaporate rather quickly. Dont forget there is 10-15% alcohol in most "Gasoline" now :)

Do you have caps for the carbs? Seems to help when the stacks are covered

?

Don't have stack covers, only screens. Do you mean the red vinyl ones or something similar

Seems strange they would have an effect since most of the venting is done thru the screen over the jet well.

Could be perceived. Just seems like it...

where did my fuel go

I'm using 2 inch spacers, and a 3 lb pump from England.
I used to boil fuel, spacers helped.
The main thing,,,,,,, USE A DIGITAL FUEL AIR METER, without that you just don't know what's going on.
If your rich it will say, plus check your float level, it's important

Hi Paul,

Are you saying after a day or two, you can remove an emulsion tube, and the bottom half of the tube, and possibly the main jet is dry?

Are you looking into the main well with a light to confirm this?

Is this happening on all eight tubes and wells?

Fuel does evaporate when stopped.
I use simple remedy.
When you stop let stand 10-20 minutes and then cover stacks with tin foil.
No stink minimal evaporate.
