How to mechanically synch 48 ida

Iam brand new to webers.

Just bought a kirkham 427 side oiler.

Talked with Jim Inglese, installed everything internal that he recommended.

Now I need to get them synced.

Current reads are 5, 7, 10, 25 pass side front

Iam assuming that I need to mechanically synch them before I start syncing them while idling since they are so far off.

iam not sure where to start.

adjusting the throttle stops so that you get congruent readings on all carbs at idle.
that's where i start with mechanical FI, i'm sure its the same for the carbs too.
once your sure they all have the butterflies at the same point of closure, then you can start the never ending tuning which will change at the hint of your next door neighbors flatuation, and what house the moon is in.....

Still confused.

How should the butterflies be adjusted when the motor isn't running is I guess what iam asking.

I thought I read somewhere they are suppose to be slightly open?

If so how to you measure them, just by looking down the stack at them?

One car/TB is controlled by the idle set screw on it's stop. The other three are matched to the first via the linkage. How you make adjustments and in what order all depends on how your linkage is set up.

Years ago I worked on my linkage for a long time trying to get it to synch. Finally, I gave up. I pulled it all off and threw it away. Then I built my own linkage using a central pulley, and it synched up easily.

I started out with this. One rod crossed over from one side to the other. Never could get this to work right.

Then I changed it to this, with a central bell crank. Worked almost immediately, and stayed in tune.
