Weber rebuild tip
Recently I decided to tackle the job of rebuilding a set of used IDAs, I got them from 3 different sources all being taken from Off Road VW's. With the shaking and abuse they receive in this application they each required a complete "Going Over". I found a couple of Websites with several pictures that helped a lot. One item I found necessary to repair on the entire set was the small spring that keeps the Auxiliary Venturi tight in the Carb Body. It gets weak and allows the venturi to be loose and wiggle a small amout, which compromioses the required seal between the Carb Body and the crossbar of the Auxiliary Venturi from which fuel is drawn. The fix is to carefully set up in a drill press or vertical mill and drill out the brass plug insert on each side of the Carb Body and thread it for a short 3/8" x 24 fine thread set screw 5/16" long. This has to be done carefully (take your time) so the set screw threads into the body squarely. Use a small bit of locktight on the threads and don't overtighten them. If anyone needs a better explanation feel free to PM me. If you find the large tube in the center of the carb throat wiggles, you need to do this, the spring cannot be made tighter.
