BB Weber fuel economy

I was wondering what you guys are getting for fuel economy with a big block 427 and webers.

Just curious :)

Bid block and fuel economy are two words you usually do not see in the same sentence.

Just Curious

Not that I am looking for a fuel saver just wanted to know.

I could see from the responses that my car must be running perfect!!!! :D :D :D

Since I am going in the same direction I was kinda of wondering the same, but its not something that will change my mind. Another question that comes to mind is what kind of HP will you see? Again it really doesn't matter as it won't change the swap over but it would be nice to know.

Fred, the universal assertions are that your torque will be the primary beneficiary. You'll notice the difference. You will be a good gauge for the seat of the pants measure, as you are making the switch with an engine you are intimately in tune with.

As for gas mileage....there's enough gas stations around that I've never run out. :JEKYLHYDE

Not quite 427 & Cobra but 428 & Shelby:

Relaxed highway driving (70-90 mph)

Holley 750 (3310) 16-17 mpg
Holley 850 DP 14-15 mpg
48 IDAs (tuned by an "expert" ) 8-9 mpg
48 IDAs 13-14 mpg (my current - not yet perfect tune)

The leaner tune runs much , much better than the "expert" and also noticeable better than the Holleys.

I expect the Webers to do as well or better than the 3310, after I find a way to reconnect the vacum advance.

At $2 per Liter (3.78l / gal) I do care.

3mpg, even with 42 gallon tank, have run dry twice:

 What make's this even funnier is that in this day of "green" this and "green" that, Al's car IS green!

Oh yeah...and gorgeous.

Update on the tuning & "fuel economy"

The last couple of weekends were filled with nice drives to car shows.

The mileage has stabilized at 16mpg. Not too bad considering that the vacuum advance is still not hooked up.

Seems the Webers have a build in choke, I have noticed that the car runs noticeably richer when cold and leans out as temperature increases.

With temperatures arround freezing the drive back from the show on Saturday was a pretty frosty experience ... (should have replaced the heater core in the summer)
