Looking to rebuild IDA 48
I am looking to rebuild my IDA 48. I have heard of using Mineral spirts to clean the carbs. Other I hear of using Carb parts cleaner.
My bodies are polished and would hate to ruin the finish with the carb parts clean( not sure if this will happen). I would like to ask you opinion as to which I should use or is it the same? Also, what would be a good amount or time to let the carbs sit in the solution. Thanks for any other helpful hints. |
I'd treat them with even more care than a normal cast carburettor.
So don't soak them in a carb cleaning solution, spray through the circuits with some carb cleaner and inside the float bowl area, blow through with compressed air, reassemble the carbs in the normal manner, then repolish the outside with a soft cloth to bring back the shine. |

Be careful with blowing through the passages with compressed air. You may blow out some of the plugs along the way. Be careful, blow low pressure air through it but not compressed air.
I clean the carb parts with dishwashing soap and hot water. That enough. |
