third progression hole--Who drilled their own?
I am in the process of making a jig to drill a third progression hole in my IDA's. The only thing I am worried about is the possibility of snapping a 1mm drill bit while drilling aluminum. I plan on using some cutting oil and taking it slow to keep the drill bit from loading up. Any other sugestions?

Center punch it first and then apply very little pressure. Let the drill do the work.

Do not use anything other than a "Pin Vise" to drill with. Go slow and roll it between your fingers while applying very little pressure, do not allow it to bind. Do not use any sort of a power source such as "Electric or Cordless Drill". Have more than 1 bit available.

Yes, I did it myself.
I used the instructions I found in the net. I center punched it with a sharp punch an used a regular 1mm in my smallest drill. Went thru like butter.
Talk about a difference ! :3DSMILE:

What symptoms were you experiencing prior to the procedure and what were the results afterwards.

Have not had a chance to drill them yet, still fabricating a jig.

I did the mod and it ruined my carb. I used a 1/16" bit and it was too big causeing a huge vacuum leak at idle and basically shutting off my idle circut. if you're going to do it make sure both holes are in the exact same posisition, and you use a 1mm bit. As I further researched it there are hundreds of horror stories of ruined carburetors form doing this mod incorrectly. I'm in the process of trying to find a way to plug the additional holes now.

use two part epoxy. I like the kind that comes in the stick. Push it in the hole from the inside of course, and it can then be sanded lightly down to the contour of the throttle body

How about the famous JB Weld (here we go again!):LOL:
Actually that is a 2 part epoxy and I have seen it used successfully
on carbs to hold a pressure fit tube - didn't dissolve or anything.
1 mm - that is small!

I plugged some 1mm holes making a thin 1mm shaft out of brass ( may be slightly conical) and press them into the holes. Break off the part sticking out and file or sand the rest off.
