Trailer Parking and Check-in

16 days!!!

I have a couple of questions:

Where is the area going to be to store your trailers and tow rigs? We are coming up on Thursday and need to park that night with cobra on trailer but still be able to tow it on Friday to the track. Is this possible?

Also where do we check-in on Thursday?

Scott

Jamo 05-02-2006 04:31 PM

He's still working on the posters. :p

I may be trailering out to the track as well, but it's enclosed.

How freeking early do we have to be at the track?

jmarsey 05-02-2006 05:44 PM

Folks,

Duane will make this very clear but parking open trailers at the parking garage is not an option. You will need to unload your car and bring it up to the 5th floor for security reasons. Looks like we'll have to double handle but for very good reasons.

Apparently there are a lot of folks trailering. Sorry for the mix up.

Talk soon, John :)

jmarsey 05-02-2006 06:01 PM

Hey Jamo,

Having just completed the dry run, I need to have folks arriving at the track no later than 8am. There are a hand full of 1/2 day folks who will start their session at 10am.

Getting to the track, parking, signing in, and orientation is going to take some time and I want to make sure everyone gets their fill of actual driving time before lunch. I mean, enough time to get familiar with the line of the track and start to have some fun after lunch.

During the next 1.5 weeks, we will be committing to the track configurations and actual run-group schedules.

Stay tuned. :)

John

Warning!

CLARIFICATIONS AND CORRECTIONS TO THE STATEMENTS ABOVE - THANKS!

Please Note, without exception, we are not changing the gameplan:

1. Security Guards/Cameras for your cars are IN the CORRAL.

2. Rigs/Trailers can ONLY be parked in the TRAILER PARKING.

3. NO RIGS/TRAILERS WILL BE PARKING IN THE CORRAL.

4. Please unload your car and bring it to the Corral.

5. DON'T LEAVE YOUR CAR ON or IN A TRAILER.

Alternative:
Another option is to arrive Friday early and tow your car straight to the track Friday morning if you are concerned about unloading Thursday and reloading Friday morning.

Any other considerations are at your own risk and I'm highly sensitive to all the early questions and comments a few months ago by a gentleman who had his Shelby stolen at a SAAC trailer parking area. Bring it to the Corral!

decooney 05-02-2006 06:33 PM

Okay Ron, I got your friggin poster for ya... with some gel on it! :D

30 just off the press one hour ago, and keeping a copy of that "other" thread for the list of requestors. I'll be tracking you guys down wapping you over the head with your poster tubes. And Ron, Not only are you getting your requested poster, you are going to be the 1st proud recipient of a Denim color (you picked it - others better like it) Port Authority shirt like the core team had on last year. Thanks for being an instigator. Now bring your car to the Corral like everyone else on Thursday. Hey, what can I say - if you can create more work for me, I can create more work for you. HaHaHa.

Jamo 05-02-2006 06:38 PM

Assofreekinglutely! :p

Makes sense have the cars guarded in one location. BTW, thanks for thinking of the gel...makes things go a bit easier.

John...8am...ok, but I'm a bit cranky in the morning. ;)

Just for laughs and giggles, it appears the Serpent Express trailers should have their own special area:
1. - Mike Treece - Tucson, AZ
2. - Steve Courtwright - Elk Grove, CA
3. - Steve Powell - Oregon
4. - Doug Rosier- Las Vegas
5. - Terry Stapley - Utah
6. - Dick Sheehan - Idaho
7. - Brad Berger - Washington
8. - Wayne Wong - Impereial, CA
9. - Yours Truly - Utah

Duane: name tags, windshield stickers, track day, pictures, car show, shirts, posters, and now trailer parking...can you do it? (we need 9 double deep slots.)

Thanks in advance.

decooney 05-02-2006 11:19 PM

Hi Larry,

Yes - 9 double deep slots, no problem, on the West side of the complex. There is a big area over there to fit up to 70 rigs or so. If we run over, we can negotiate to another area as well. I think we have about 40 rigs/trailers coming this year.

Can I do it? We'll see, and we need to add about 110 other things to the list you have there. I have a giant spreadsheet just to keep track of it all. Seems so simple, but I have a ton yet to finish in time. My regular practice is working from 9pm-2a.m every night after work. Tonight's project is getting all the specs together for the reamaining WSCB banners and vendor banners if they want them. It never ends and I'm really picking up the pace now.

I am so looking forward to just getting there and relaxing with all of you.

Hey wait a doggone minute...we gotta park next to them there tent trailers? ;)

decooney 05-02-2006 11:51 PM

Larry,
You guys planning on making a KOA out there and sleeping in those tent trailers? Sounds like the party might be over in the West lot. :D

Jamo 05-03-2006 12:24 AM

Well I do want to check 'em out...I get tired of lugging the big beast that keeps following me around. Nice to have the opportunity to see them in the flesh. :)

Scott Hatcher 05-03-2006 08:50 AM

Thanks for the info. I don't mind offloading and reloading so it's more secure in the corral. Thanks.
Two more weeks and we're on the road!!

Scott

Any of you trailer guys want to leave extra early with me are welcome to do so. I will be at Fernley by 7am to run the track with ET to make sure everything is groovy. There are some blind turns and up-hills where I want to make sure we have cones as visual aids. Otherwise, you might feels like you're about to drive off a cliff.

I'm working on the basic schedule for Thursday & Friday and will be posting on CC and Newsletter soon!

Talk soon, John

Jamo 05-03-2006 10:02 AM

With a trailer...about an hour from Sparks?

jmarsey 05-03-2006 10:12 AM

Jamo,

I can do it in 35 - 40 min tops door to door. But that’s haulin A--. You do need to watch speed in Fernley as I hear they are radar-happy. What's cool is the Nugget's location to the I80. You can literally jump on and off the freeway, east or west, in 2 minutes. So cool.

John

Larry N Johnson 05-04-2006 05:53 AM

Hey jamo,

Are you in sales and marking?
You just added another benefit the the Serpent Express:
- Lightweight, easy to pull and control
- Save tow vehicle wear and tear
- Aerodynamic shape reduces wind drag
- Energy efficient: saves gasoline when towing
- Safe, easy to stop
- Small, easy to store and park
- Multi-function use; converts to open flatbed trailer
- Strong frame; 6000-7000 GVW for 4000-5000 lb cars if needed
- Lightweight ramps that are easy to move
- Ramps have for long life with traction grip
- Easy loading and unloading; no sidepipoe dragging
- Custom built to order
- Save on hotel bills, sleep in your SE

Jamo 05-04-2006 04:13 PM

John...that's a huge benefit over last year's minor Mongolian Cluster Phu.... when we were trying to escape Reno for the track.

Larry...LMFAO :p
