body & paint
Hello all,
I'm just coming out of the garage and have most the mechanicals finnished up. I'm looking for a good body & paint shop in north east Ill. Any recomendations? Thanks, Nick |

Try Silver Lake Auto Body. Their at 1205 N. Pryor Dr Silver Lake WI 262-559-5200. They have painted a lot of cobras.

I have 4 quotes so far and they all seem high. I'm considering doing the body work on my own if I can't find someone at a reasonable price. |

Quoted with stripes- 1@10k, 2@15k, and 1@18k - seems high to me. I've heard others have had it done for 7-10k with extras. They are quoting $70 an hour for sanding? - when I'm sure the guy doing the sanding is making $15-$20 and hour. I understand overhead but wow!

That's crazy! Call Vince at the Paint Spot in Addison 630-543-7111. Tell him Erik with the red cobra sent you. He is hands down the best. I will tell him tomorrow to expect your call.
Erik I have seen Erik's paint job and it is beautiful. It has ghost flames and is candy apple red. Hint hint, think hard about painting your car red and it will go faster and you will get a discount on your dues. Marty |
Nick: I am with Marty, your qoutes are absolutely nuts. Hell 3 years ago, I sent mine to California (from IL) and all in spent under $7k. Even though I didn't get mine done there, you might want to get a quote from Gess in Crete. I am going to get a quote myself to repair a recent boo-boo based on a WCCC recommendation in Schaumburg. If I get there tomorrow I'll ask about a total prep and paint job and get back to you.
