**)Dropped a whole second off my e.t. with a tire change. Ran six 11.9's. Still have room for improvement with 1.6 and 1.7 60 foot times. Byron was wide open -- no waiting. Hope it is that way when the WCCC goes down in two weeks.

Arcy how'd you run??

mpanten 04-18-2010 06:14 PM

what kind of tires did you switch to ?

CHRIS DAMSCH 04-18-2010 07:11 PM

Great job Jim. How were those launches? Looks like you figured them out.

How did some of the other guys run and what kind of cars?

You've got to be happy. I new you could get there.

And no broken half shafts. I'm impressed. I ran a 12.2 my first pass on a very easy run, GY Eagle F-1's. Second pass launched harder and snapped the driver side. I'll be interested to hear about the track and the launch. Understand the weather was real cool in Chicago area this weekend.

Weather was perfect, about 68 degrees, but sunny so the track heated up nicely and cool air makes HP. No waiting at all at Byron, I had 15 runs in by 1pm and I had lunch in between, literally pull-up-and-go! I went head-to-head with a 725 hp Shelby GT500 Super Snake (no warranty version) all day, multiple bumber-to-bumber finishes. I'd shoot out of the whole get a quarter track lead and he'd try to run me down. We even traded rides for a few runs, it pulls like an F16 lauching off an aircraft carrier when the supercharger really kicks in (I think I want a supercharger now, I need a few more ponies on the top end). We had a very cool 12 second black Jaguar (4200 lbs, 4 door) and high winding VW in the low 13's. There is one guy who didn't run, but has a 1967 Chevelle with a Viper engine, it's been on the cover of Popular Hot Rod and Car Craft, he has over $200k into the car, he'll be out in the fall and will be road racing all summer.

I bought the new Nitto NT05R drag radials, dropped a full second off my E.T. without even lauching too hard (because I was worried about the half shaft). The best 60 foot time was 1.632 and 1.6/1.7's came easily and repeatedly. I took Chris's advice and just got it rolling, then hammered it, tire pressure didn't matter, tried 20, 25 and 35 ft/lbs - those tires just hooked up. The coolest thing was at full pressure, driving to the track, I could take turns as fast as the Goodyears, no sloshing around like normal drag radials, WHAT A GREAT TIRE!
