Sorry I can not make it this year .

spfcobra2567 04-30-2011 06:32 PM

There's a Crispy Waffle in Shorewood. That's just before 59 merges onto I 55 near the I 80 intersection. I could be there just before 10.
I'll check back tonight for any interest, or to see what everyone may be doing.

Wolfie 04-30-2011 06:38 PM

I plan on leaving my house around 9:00 shooting down 59. I'll stop by the Crispy Waffle in Shorewood.

Jerry Clayton 04-30-2011 07:24 PM

Wolfie
The shortest , quickest way for you would be 59 south to 88 west to 39 south to 80 and back 3 or 4 miles east to 178---if you guys want to meet for breakfast there is a Cracker Barrel just southwest of the junction of 59 and 88---over the overpass on 59 to first lite, tr and go west less than one block for cracker barrel--mobil station on corner of 59--after breakfast back to overpass and go west young man!!!!

59 is a mess after 59 southbound pass mall and no lites timed, yuc---

LRRCobradreamer 04-30-2011 08:13 PM

I will try to made it and meet at the Crispy Waffle in Shorewood at about 10. I just have to mount the wheels and get it off the jack stands. Hope it still runs.

I googled the address 564 Brook Forest Ave. Shorewood. Driving time for me is 2 hours. Wolfie what time are you leaving????

Lee

Renlady 04-30-2011 08:44 PM

I'm not going to make it tomorrow, but I'll keep an eye out for other show ops.

Welcome to Utica, I80 exit 81 to Ill RT178 has construction (demolition ) in progress WATCH FOR THE POTHOLES!! Forcast is for a cloudy 47 degrees rising to a high of 57 with 20-25MPH wind, J C Whitney north parking lot is not sheltered to wind so dress warm. There are several good places nearby for lunch after the show, this area has a good number of interesting backroads for cobras. It will be good to meet all that brave the ride. Warren FFR spec racer built road legal.

Wolfie 05-01-2011 05:43 AM

Lee I was planning on leaving my house @ 9:00

HIPO289 05-01-2011 08:07 AM

Sunny and clear 52 degrees already show is open. Special Interest seems to be the class for plastic cobras, with the pedal cars and milk truck. Warren

I left my house @ 1/4 after 8 to fuel up and my car broke down on route 59 1/2 mile from my house. Mary and I towed it backed to my house. I'm not getting any spark to the plugs so I pulled the distributer cap and the rotor is not spining I've seen it before on other Cobras in London Ohio looks like I possibly sheared the pin on the distributor gear. Crap this sucks that I am able to even figure it out! That is so NOT ME!
I am going to attempt to fix it on my own, wish me luck.

If that's the case, try and find out what caused this failure. Is you oil pump locked up? Might be time to remove the oil pan -- and at least find out if there's any metal from the sheer. Good luck

SloMo, good to see that you're still around, haven't heard from you in a long time!:(

AND you think Wolfie is about to pull his oil pan? You don't know Wolfie!!!

Ralph :MECOOL:

Wolfie 05-01-2011 06:09 PM

Well I pulled the distributor out and sure enuff the sheer pin had sheered. I could'nt find a sheer pin so I used a 6 penny nail, that should be fine, but I can't get the distributer all the way back down the hole. I can't get the gears to mesh properly, maybe I should grind the head off of the nail! I gave up after a while. I'm gonna pick up some more cinder blocks this week. I figure about three under each wheel will get the car high enuff off the ground where I can get under it to drop the pan. Heck if I go 4 high I should be able to stand under it. I might need some help to lift the car up onto the blocks, or I guess I can barrow a jack from one of my neighbors.

RedSnake351 05-01-2011 08:31 PM

Wolfie, you can use my lift, it's not being used.
Ralph

Badman 05-02-2011 05:49 PM

Wolf,

I'm working until 9:00AM this Saturday but can help you drop the oil pan. I've got a jack, stands etc. Let me know if you need help and what time to be there.

Wolfie 05-02-2011 06:59 PM

Thanks for the offer Ralphy, but I think it would be way to much of a hassle for you to bring your lift all the way to my house.
And Frank this weekend is not looking good for me, I have commitments that I can't break on saturday and sunday I'm gonna be thinking about my mommy all day. Cobra is gonna have to wait.

Ralph :MECOOL:

Yup, still hanging around Rafael! And yes it's been a long time no doubt. Sure I think the Wolf can pull the oil pan -- but now getting that distributor in correctly, well that's another story.

Wolfie, everyone knows to do the job correctly that you must stack a minimum of 5 cinder block vertically. If you're going to do it, do it safely. Run a bungee cord or some elastic from your roll bar to at least 2 rafters. That way if it falls, it'll come down nice and easy. Hope this helps!

LRRCobradreamer 05-03-2011 11:33 AM

Yea, then take an old rug and lay it on the floor as an extra cushion for your back side.

Lee

Wolfie 05-03-2011 07:34 PM

SloMo that rafter suggestion just gave me a great idea, instead of using bungees I can hook my come along to the roll bar and just lift the entire car off the ground. INGENIOUS!

AND LEE, for sure I'll be putting a rug underneath cause I know that I'm gonna totally miss the catch pan when I pull the plug.

slow_motion 05-05-2011 12:38 PM

Wow, that's a GREAT idea Wolfie!!! But as a friend that's concerned about your safety -- make sure the rafter is not to big for the come along. You'll want to strap it to a 1"x3" or a 2"x4", but make damn sure it's a hardwood, something like pine or balsa. Good luck pal
