Happy 10th Birthday to the WCCC.
Happy 10th Birthday to the WCCC.
According to my old club reference information, the WCCC is turning 10 years this Fall (2011). While we have seen many club members come and go over the years, the WCCC still has a few “founder” members still active in the club today. Our very own Arcenio S. was a founding member back in 2001 as was Sid P.. FYI: Sid was carless for many of his early membership years, he has a car today, but he still holds the club record for having used the passenger seat in other club members cars the most. 2002 was our clubs first active, with meetings and scheduled events, a newsletter and a simple website. Both Marty C. and I joined during 2002. Most of the other WCCC founding members are still around somewhere, many have moved on, sold their cars, or no longer have the time to participate in club events these days. So happy 10th to the WCCC. Thanks to all our current and past Club Directors, and to those active core members who support the club by running events or by their frequent event participation. You are all what makes the club great. Current and past members, feel free to add any additional comments/corrections, memories, photos etc to this post. |
Wow !!!
Maybe.....This calls for a Tenth anniversary WCCC T shirt! Has it been 10 years already? Hey Blas thanks for bringing this up! Some of the other founding members that are still around are John Spina, and Rick Predkelis, as far as I remember we held the first election at Rick's garage! Anyway...they are still both memebers of our little group. Gentlemen thanks for going the distance! If I can find some old pics I'll upload them.... Happy 10th Birthday to the WCCC!!! |
Here is a copy of a post from April 2001.....

The meeting was a great success! Looking forward to seeing all at the next WCC meeting at Rolling Meadows May 31st. snake oil |
I've met some of my closest friends through this club. Friends for life. Happy Birthday WCCC!
|
I was just looking at some of the pictures in my gallery and remembering some of the great times, and great runs I've had with this club!
The poker runs. Carving corners on the back roads, enjoying the scenery in the countryside, Some of those chilly early morning drives (ok they're early to me) to get to a snake and eggs, the cruise ins, the monthly meetings. And of course shooting down the drag strip at Byron! Visiting all the great and so cooooool cars in the pits at Road America! But unfortuantely with the good also comes real life, and we also have to remeber the loss of two of our memebers, Keith Leopold, and John Spira. I have to agree with Sid, I have met some very cool people, and made some great life time freinds in this club. So lift your glasses and join me in a toast ... TO THE WCCC MAY THE CLUB CONTINUE TO GROW AND PROSPER !!! |
:cool:Congrats and thanks to the founding members. This has been a blast, little did I know that I could have joined a year before I started my build - boy that was a long time ago, just turned 11K miles.
Rumor has it that all the original members had red cars, hard to believe but makes sense to me.:cool: tim |
Red cars?
tsk, tsk, tsk...
Now EVERYONE knows that an ORIGINAL COBRA HAS TO BE BLUE! That's why mine is black... it used to be blue though... |
I bet black is faster:JEKYLHYDE

I did hear that the black cars look faster too. But someone told me it was an illusion because of all the dead bugs just were more noticeable - is that true?

Dead bugs?
At least mine has some dead bugs on it from driving it.:D
Which means it has to come out of the garage... once in a while. Which seems to be a little difficult for red cars lately especially from the shaumburg area. Oh it's not an illusion they are faster. |
From the looks of your avatar, your burning a lot of oil again...or is that a Diesel ?

My car runs pretty good even though it is just a small block, I must have black primer under the Imola red (damn, I knew I should have gotten black stripes). BTW, you need a putty knife to scrape off all the bugs off my car. Hope to add a bunch more this weekend as I take it downstate.
