Special event for next year ?
As some of you know members have in the past attended a trip around the Great Lakes and it was hosted by the Great Lakes Cobra Club and it was well planned Some of us have gone to Branson twice and we met Cobra Club members there. The reason I bring this up is in the hopes of planning something for next year .
A few things I have learned is to plan early and get input and ideas from WCCC members like you . Some of the input I have received is to plan it before school starts in the fall and a one days ride from here. Some of the ideas I have heard: A. Attend an exciting event planned by other clubs. B. Plan our own event and invite other clubs. C. It may not have to be a Cobra only event ? So lets hear from you and post your ideas on this thread for everyone to comment and bring the best ideas to light. Hopefully we can pick out something at the Holiday Party. |
Special Event
Thinking outloud...
If you decide to sponsor it then, You have to first define it. The gathering would have to have some kind of theme or meaning tied to it; If it were to be held in a place or destination. With some planned activity when people are there. OR If a drive, (example) possibly a Charity Drive... get people to pledge $______ for every mile you drive. Being raised and donated to a charity. OR Tie in to a toys for tots drive with another activity sceduled with it. OR Somekind of Street Car Challenge... Cobras against Vipers? Cobras against Vettes? |
What about an "ALL COBRA" event at Road America and invite other Cobra Clubs to attend?

I second the motion. We can always hook up with other clubs that rent out tracks. |
It would be a great event, but I tried that a year ago with an event at the Autobahn. The WCCC group just doesn't have a large enough "road coarse racer" contingent to make it work, nor an interest in a social event that includes touring laps. We'd have to tie in with the 'Vette or Shelby Mustang folks or a group like that (I doubt the Porsche guys would accept us) to get to an acceptable number. My $.02.

shouldn't mean that we don't stop asking if people want to go racing. We have multiple options to get track time. If we want to race our cobras that is harder. But not impossible. Shoot why not get some newbies that have never been on the track? Start out with. Some track days with our daily drivers.

Sorry double post.

If we continue on this idea, I was thinking that we could break it up into a few different segments on the track. Each would be for 1-2 hours.
1. We could have newbies like my self go first and if more experienced drivers wanted to ride with them to give some pointers then all the better. 2. We could have a more spirited segment with everyone in their own cars but not all out racing. 3. We could line them up and have a little competition with only the ones that feel comfortable racing their cars. If we have someone that wants on the track for this part we may have to vote them in or out for the safety of the group. Just my thoughts on a fun for all event. |
A trip to GILMORE Car MUSEUM in Hickory Corners Mi.
Invite Michigan and Indiana Cobra Clubs. That would take up an entire day, And its well worth it. |

Have you thought about joining up with the Northwoods Shelby Club when they put on their event at Road America? I love going to Road America and don't mind the 800 mile drive....much! :). Maybe start a day early and incorporate a cruise by Lake Michigan and thru some of the small towns around RA? I would travel from Oklahoma for that.

My schedule will be pretty whacky for the next year while I'm back in school on Weds nights and at least one weekend a month. I'm always interested in a good cruise day. Lake Geneva or Door County could be fun.
