First Start and Go-Kart of my FFR
Just a couple weeks short of the three-year point in my build, I finally started engine for the first time yesterday. Since it was running pretty well, I decided to take it for its first go-kart run, too.
This is the first engine I've ever built. It started out as a '94 SVT block and head castings to which all new parts were added. It's now a 347 with forged internals (10.5:1), internally balanced (all counter-weight removed from the flywheel and damper), fed by a Holley 650 DP. Trans is an SVT T5 and it has the FFR three-link rear with 3.27 gears. If anyone is interested in a run to the Fox Valley to check out my build and share their comments, let me know and we can arrange a "garage crawl" as Lee R. called it for a visit to Aurora Airport where I'm doing the build. Here's the second start when we were adjusting the carb and getting it down to a decent idle: FFR 7074 Second Start - YouTube This one is the first go-kart: http://i845.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps88fbd760.jpg |
That's great. Getting closer!
|
Congrats! That is fantastic. It must be so rewarding :) I'm always up to going to ARR, I used to fly in and out there a good amount.
|
I would like to check it out also.
Set something up. |
Lee mentioned that the club is having a breakfast on the first Sunday of October and that he may organize a drive out to Sugar Grove from Schaumburg afterwards. Anyone who wants to join in the visit is welcome. Lee has back-road directions from S-burg and with the color in the trees, it ought to be a nice drive if the weather cooperates.
I'll work with Lee on plans for the visit and look forward to the visit!! |
Chris,
Are you in the hangers on the east end? I'd like to make the trip myself! |
Sten - Yep; Skyhaven. Give me a call or PM me. Lee R is putting together a "garage crawl" for Sunday, Oct 7, so feel free to join in.
