Chicago area exhaust fabrication

Anyone have a recommendation for a Chicago-area exhaust fabricator?

I need to have the internal baffles in my sidepipes replaced.

Hopefully they will also have refinish services as well.

Thanks

Roy

I'm going over to Naperville Exhaust Works to see if they will assist, what their recommendation is, and how the assembly can be refinished.

Roy, if the rains stay away Saturday I'll talk to you in person about some ideas I have.

Not going to happen

Ralphie - I'm all ears, let's talk tomorrow

They said that since the pipes are stainless the resulting welds would look like ass. Also, he felt that Jet-Coat (etc) would not do well on the high heat application and eventually would look like ass too.

So, yes, we could cut the pipes and insert new baffles, but cosmetically the results would never look as nice as what I have today.

I suppose it's not a big deal, I just hate knowing that the collectors dump in to a brick wall - only to squeeze through two one-inch pipes.

Backdraft is on perpetual back order for the glass pack pipes used on the newer cars.

Vintage may develop a new approach, will have to wait and see.

Lo-ko coatings in Oak Lawn can do a ceramic coating on the pipes

Sorry I'm late to the party... look at Flowmaster slimline mufflers! They're stainless, are Double walled so they don't get too hot, and sound sweeeeet! Nice toned down idle, great volume when you push on the go pedal, and don't rob you of horsepower.

Thanks Steno

It's more an issue with the material being finished stainless.
Any reconstruction will leave black welds.

The factory has a glass pack part, but it's pricey.

Take a look at the other pics of this car in my gallery-they are stainless and NO BLACK welds---whoever told you stainless was a problem didn't know what he was talking about-Its absolutely the best stuff--well titanium is good to---want referances-Downers Grove area-Howard Petty, Ralphy has some exhaust stuff I did, Bob Brown,

PM'd you Jerry

Steno 03-13-2017 09:39 AM

Jerry is correct! The Sidepipes on my car are ALL stainless and the tig welding is stunning. It picks up a blue tint as it's welded, but polishes right off! Mig welding it would make it look like TOTAL ASS!

I'm looking at slimlines via Vintage
Let you know how it turns out.

I can hook you up with a couple Welder's that do outstanding work! You could take the car to them and they do all the work, or you mock it up and they weld it. Your choice.

PM sent Steno

Ozzie Goat 03-15-2017 02:39 PM

Thanks anyway Steno, I sent them to Vintage today

I liked the idea of someone that's done it before

Flowmaster slimline 30" to 3.5 turn outs.
