Windy City Club Formalization

In order to formulate a "REAL" club, we need four things:

- A newsletter (via e-mail I think)
- Standing monthly meetings
- Our own events, cruises, etc.
- Cool jackets with some kinda snake on em.

So, I can get together some type of an e-newsletter every month if others are willing to arrange monthly meetings, events, etc.

I think someone has most of the WCCC e-mail addresses on file...however, only a small percentage of Chicago area Cobra people are on this site. SPF owners have a list of a bunch more that could receive an invitation via regular mail...

I dont know if e-mail is common for car clubs as I havent been in a car club since they invented the internet...

Perhaps we should arrange a spring meeting, elect officers, collect dues, etc. just like the Ferrari club, Viper club, but without the comparatively slow cars that those clubs have in them.

Then comes the jackets...

We have the website started! www.windycitycobras.com . CDOG & Len, I will send you the e-mail addresses of those that have registered online so far. I am currently working on the ability for users to update their own profiles. I also want to put an event calender online. I am open for suggestions, and if anyone wants to submit pages to me done up in frontpage, I can attach them to the site.

Len Hurlburt 01-30-2002 08:48 PM

Tom,

Will we be able to post photos on the 'windycity' site?

OhBuoy 01-30-2002 08:55 PM

My goal over time is to do whatever everyone wants. Currently, I do not have an easy way for people to upload photos, but will work on that functionality. If you want some photos on the site, either on your own subsite, or on the front page, let me know.

Currently, I am working on a self administering links page which will allow members to submit links for the approval of the administrators. Once a link is submitted, the administrator can approve the link, and it will automatically be displayed. I plan on doing the same thing for an event calender.

I will be able to give Site Administrator rights to specific people, which will allow them to approve sites, members and events.

As to the mailing list, please send any addresses to me at:

Also, I spoke with the McDonalds Museum in Des Plaines about giving us access to the lot and the McDonalds lot across the street for a charity car show.

They said this was a good idea, and they could be open from 10 - 3 or 4 PM. This would need to be coordinated with Des plaines of course...

We could charge $10 per car to enter and also give cobra rides for $10 each.

Something good for June.

McDonalds In June

June is fine as long as it's not DVSF weekend!

If we did it before DVSF, could a portion of the funds go to CF/Team Jenny?

Rich1172 02-03-2002 11:30 AM

cdog, I enjoy showing and driving my car, I let the little kids sit in it, some times the momies too! Charging to park in a lot is silly. Just my opion but we built these car to enjoy and I get great enjoyment letting other people see and enjoy, who knows they may get the bug.
The club should be about helping one another with the build, parts search, tools, track suport and such.
Our frist real event could be a strong showing at the Spring Fling with a club donation of some real money. It's a tax deduction. Rich

donation

What I meant to confer was that every partipicipant could give a small donation to charity so that the event would have a positive purpose...

A $10 donation is nice, and most car clubs typically charge their members a fee for shows, events, etc. Some of the fee goes for expenses (if any) and usually the rest goes to charity or in the case of some clubs, into the clubs coffers.
