It's Gone!!
Being a "Cobraless"member, I appreciate every chance I get to see a
Cobra, whether it is on the road, or parked somewhere, where I can view it for more than a second or two. These past few months, I have passed a Cobra both going to and coming home from work. It was for sale for quite some time, and today, coming home from work, I noticed it was no longer on the showroom floor. I figured its owner was finally taking advantage of some nice weather, and took it out for a spin. Stopped in to talk to one of the salesman, who informed me that it had sold earlier this afternoon( for just over 20 k ). DARN! I was hoping since it was sitting unsold for so long, maybe, just maybe they'd drop the price some more, but some lucky stiff bought it out from under me.(like I have that kind of money to spend right now w/ my daughter attending college in the fall ) Did anybody from our club happen to buy it? Or has anybody else had their eye on it like I have? ( It was at the Andersen BMW dealership in Crystal Lake-just north of Rt. 176 on Rt. 31) Bob It will be sorely missed :( |
No, I didn't buy it but...
Hi Bob,
20K is a very low price for almost any Cobra. I'm just curious, do you know any details on the car? Manufacturer, year, engine, etc. Thanks - Len |
Your daughter is more important..
You are making the right decision, and you will never look back and think "I should have helped her thru college" as you look at an old tired cobra replica in the garage. But you already know this, good show, you have many years ahead to get your cobra !
|
Bob,
But NEVER tell her that it was either her college or the Cobra! And besides, which would really give you more pride, watching your daughter graduate from college or driving a Cobra? I know which one I'd choose. |
Bob:
FWIW, you can build a couple of the "donor" type of Cobras for less than 20K if you are resourceful. You could always do upgrades over the winters, which are PLENTY long enough up here. Regards, Bill |
Len-
I think it was a '92 classic w/a 351 windsor and possibly original or replica hallibrands, if I'm not mistaken. -Bob |
BIB-thanks for your optimism regarding my eventually getting
the cobra-I figure once my daughter finishes college& Med. school (YES-she wants to be a doctor-a BRAIN SURGEON no less!),and my son finishes college, and then I slowly crawl out insurmountable debt,THEN I can truly start saving for the Cobra of my dreams. Right now I'm looking for a '87-'93 Mustang for the motor ,etc. -Bob |
Pete-
DEFINITELY more pride and satisfaction putting my kids through college and seeing them suceed in life(+ I would feel a lot less guilty knowing that I spent their college money on college-HA!) Bill- PLEASE let me know how I can build a cobra that inexpensively! -Bob |
