leaded and un leaded
I have found a shop in Park City Il. selling many mixes of fuel.
He has both un-leaded and leaded some up to 114. He sells year round. Tom Jones Racing Sales 3627 Washington St Unit 4 Park City, IL 60085 847-623-3210 888-206-0204 He is right off of 41 and Washington st. |
Do you use leaded in your LS1?
Does that mess up the 02 SENSOR? -steve in nj- |
Lead gas coats the particles in a catalytic converter, rendering it ineffective or worse, plugged up. Not sure about the 02 sensor affect.
Hard to imagine a Cobra running a cat converter. Ernie |
I am using 93 un-leaded in the ls1. No need for the lead.
No cats and do not know about o2 damage. There had been some intrest in high test race gas in the north Chicago area. I do use leaded 100 in my old MG for autocross. |
As long as an engine has hard valve seats, there is no need for leaded fuel. Unleaded will actually make a tiny bit more hp on the dyno.
Look around for "Turbo Blue". I found it at a self-serve gas station in Evansville, IN in 1998. I'm sure it's in the mid Wisconsin area too. If not, it's bound to be in the Chicago suburbs. It was 110 octane. Smells great going into the tank (kind of sweet) and even better when it burns. My 427 really liked the stuff. Any engine with 10.5 CR or higher should use either a mix of race fuel and pump gas or an octane booster. Al |
lead in the fuel actually clogges the O2-sensor causinf erratic reading and eventually back-up mode.
but there is an oxygen sensor available for the south-american market that runs for about 50k miles with leaded fuel in a small engine. as at your favourite Rochester consultant (now Delphi?) for the 1.6l OPEL engine's sensor. dominik |
