Cruise Night Updates
Thursday night I rode through downtown Crystal Lake, to check out the first ( I believe ) cruise night of the year - unfortunately
I didn't see any cobras present- saw a few nice mid-year vettes, and a few nice Mustangs, and the usual array of bikes, 'rods, etc. It was a good night to ride (car or motorcycle) Did anybody else show up after 7 pm or so?? Len?? Did anybody happen to attend Rolling Meadow's cruise night before it rained?? I might try to go next Fri. Sid, how about you? Chuck- anything in the works for a future monthly meeting there? Or maybe a bunch of us just plan to meet there to drum up new members? -Bob :D |
Also - maybe a future meeting on a thurs. night in Crystal Lake??

Crystal Lake Cobra Activity
Bob, not sure what time you visited CL last Thursday but several Cobra's in attendance. At least three SPF's, an ERA, an Everett Morrison and one "Real One" as his license plate states. We were all scattered and only one on the main street as I recall. Need to park the truck and get out for a little walk around town! Suppose to rain this Thursday so may or may not see you this week!

Gary-I guess I didn't look carefully enough-was out on my cycle in
bumper to bumper traffic, and didn't see many spots to park (and since I didn't think there were any Cobras to look at--I didn't stop ) I'll try to make it out this Thurs., and get off my bike and walk around this time! -Bob I think I saw that "REAL" cobra last year-w/ Shelby's autograph on the dash, and authentic mfr. plate on the firewall-owner seemed bored answering questions, but great to see the real thing in person |
I heard that the owner of that real car is a tool...
If everyone is supportive, it would be great to have a meeting up in Crystal Lake. The only issue is that parking is VERY tight and somewhat disjointed. The weather has not been cooperative with shows this year. C |
CL on Thursday Night
Last check at the weather had this Thursday looking pretty good for those wanting to cruise up to CL. My suggestion is to be there by 5:00-5:30 and head for the parking lot next to the bank behind main street if we want to create a club presence. Main street is like a drive by shooting as far as getting a spot and we'd never get three or four together. Lot next to bank offers opportunity if everyone arrives by that time. Tough to save spots as cars keep pouring in but this location offers us the best chance of being near each other if that is desired. If anyone is coming for sure and wants me to try and save them a spot let me know but I'm sure I won't be able to hold it much past 5:30.

Rolling Meadows - last Friday
We drove thru RM 1 hour before the storm...real quiet...a nice blue Willeys was there...
Maybe I'll try Crystal Lake this Thursday, weather permitting. I also Cruised the Mac's at Bloomingdale and Lake street Friday. saw 1 red Cobra, owner nowhere to be found. Some photographer took 50 shots of my car (?) He sells CD's of local car shows...talked with 2 Cobra owner want-ta-be's with supportive wives....mentioned the club.... Blas |
I have to work up north this week, but weather permitting, I'll try to be there by 5:30 to help Gary save us some space - if I bring my bike, maybe I could park sideways to save a couple spaces, and then move as people arrive. I think it would be great if we could get the turnout we had at the poker run, but that's probably being a bit optimistic.
-Bob Hope I win that Cobra at DVSFIII--Arcenio, I hope you sold me the right ticket!! |
I went by Elmhurst last night. There was a maroon B&B (Bob S's buddy) and an unidentified red/white Cobra crusing around.
Also, there was an original AC Ace there. Not in great shape, but I heard the guy has a nicer one too. The Elmhurst configuration is much changed from last year, its more like Crystal Lake.... C |
cdog-
I was that Maroon B&B you saw. You guys finally got my $20 and now I'm a member. Erik:D |
Where have you been?
Chuck
Are you going to make it to the picnic on the ninth, my wife was asking about you, looks like we have been going to different car show on the same nights. I have not been able to make any of the meetings due to this crappie work schedule. Keep in touch. bsuttonmci@att.net Bob |
August 26th Cruise
I will try to attend the picnic if possible.
I try to get to Elmhurst & Rolling Meadows whenever possible. I also like the little Steak & Shake shows in Elgin and West Chicago. As a matter of fact, we're trying to get every one together for an Official WCCC Cruise and Get Together at the West Chicago Steak and Shake on August 26 from 6:30 - 9 pm. This is a great little cruise nite put on by Double K Productions. This location is at 320 W. North Ave. (North Ave & Rt. 59, next to Menard's) with music, trophies, etc. Usually 30 or so cars. |
