scca chicago solo II school March 27,28

I got some information at the auto show from the SCCA Chicago booth on the solo II drivers school. It is going to be held March 27, 28 at Rt. 66 Raceway in Joliet, IL. I was considering going and wanted to see if anybody else is interested. Cost is $100 for both days. More information at the scca-chicago website. Sounds like a good club outing.

Has anybody ever done this?

Have done a little at R&G, the fling and road america. The parking lot stuff is really fun. I was planning to do more this year. I will try and make it, thanks for the heads up. make sure your car is set up to there specs, you may have to double bolt your roll bar, helmet should be a SA2000,not a M2000. Give me a call and we can talk. 815-728-8801 evenings. This what these are made for.

Did any of you guys do the class on the 27th-28th? My buddy was there with a white prelude...he said there was one cobra that had just been finished out running the course.

It was my blue SPF at the SCCA Solo II. My instructor gave me a scary ride in his Caterham Super 7, since he is the 2003 D modified Midwest champion. He said I would spin out, but I didn't, though there was a little sliding here and there. I did bring a smile to his face. It was a long day of cone resetting for the 5 runs each day, but what got me was the cloud burst Sunday night. By the time the soft top was up, there was 2 inches of water on the floor and I was soaked for the slosh home. Then I could hardly see out of the windshield, the wipers are a joke. Has anybody come up with an articulated hoop that can pivot to allow the soft top to be quickly pulled up? I asked Dynamic about this, mentioning cars like the VW Rabbit cabriolet top that just rests behind the seats, but they acted like they never heard of the idea. Hey guys, how about a few buckets of cold Chicago rain water over your heads to clear your thinking?
