Elmhurst cruise night on Wednesday

Anybody going to Elmhurst tonight? 7/14/04

Elmhurst

Arcenio,
Better watchout for Elmhurst! Heard last week that cops pulled everyone over that didn't have a front plate and wrote them up a ticket on the spot for that, no seatbelts etc. Nice friendly town that Elmhurst!

I called to check this out. And this is not true according to the Elmhurst Police Department at least about front plates. Seems that they would be biting the hand that feeds them. As to seat belts, well... you got one coming if you don't wear one anywhere in Illinois. Perhaps the start of a new urban legend? Can anyone substantiate this?

A friend here at work was saying a couple of weeks ago that they were harrasing people comming and going for speed, tire chirps and other things. Sounds like the police might be on a mission, but do not know. I kinda liked Elmhurst short of the lack of parking for spectators.

Elmhurst goes way, way past the call of normal civic duty to arrange these shows... I wouldnt think the cops would be bothering people for no reason.

That being said, I'm sure if some punk kid is doing burnouts in his 5.0 they're gonna throw the book at him.

Seatbelt laws need to go the way of the cycle helmet law: driver's choice. Besides, on a Cobra, no passenger should ever wear a belt with a single roll hoop, because her head becomes part of the rollover structure then.

I have seen the Police in Elmhurst "get on" some people.

Yeah any display of power other than the ocasional blip on the throttle and they will write you up.

I've seen them pull over a guy in a ferrari for tire sqeal and hitting about 40 on the main strip.
I've also seen them pull over ricers showing off.

Personally I've been there a lot of times and I have never been bothered at all. AT ALL.

Remember kids eat your wheaties, wear your seat belts, and
DON"T DO BURNOUTS IN FRONT OF POLICE OFFICERS!!!
These guys Have to keep control of a large crowd of people and
they want to make sure THEY KEEP control.
That way everyone goes home safe rather than sorry

Besides most of the time they don't appreciate it.**) **) **)
