Line Lock Questions
 
Has anybody installed a line lock on their car?

Will it work as an emergency brake if you turn the car off (will it stay locked)? Seems like a less costly alternative to a new spf emergency brake.

I just ordered a Hurst line lock and was also wondering if there were any tricks for a simple install?

The line lock is just an electronically controlled solenoid valve that closes when you push the button, thus holding whatever pressure you've applied to your brake line. Can't see any way that you'd want to use if for a parking brake. It'll be real good for doing super smokey burnouts though.

I use one in my Unique, but it's strictly hydraulic (I've never heard of an electronic line-lock). It does work, sort of. If I had it to do over again.... I would go with the mechanical e-brake option. The reliability is worth the added expense, in my opinion.

It's not a replacement for an emergency brake. I would not trust it to hold the high pressure in the lines for any length of time.

Long enough to do a burn out or load or unload your trailor, etc.

I installed it on my SPF. I use an extra toggle switch on the dash to active the unit and have the release button on the tunnel close to the shifter. It locks the front brakes and keeps the rear brakes free. This way you can start your burnout without toasting the rear brakes.

Line-Locs are popular for street cars now,but not as a parking brake they require power to operate. You won't find a normally Apirated Door slammer without it at the track! Just roll into the bleach depress your brake pedal, hit the line -loc button and wallah! front brakes holding pressure till the release.They don't create pressure like a master cylinder they just hold pressure buy the use of a solenoid.Installs on the 1/4" line after your Master cylinder on front line. I have seen them used for various Extreme hill climbs as well installed on rear master.
