1966 Everett-Morrison Cobra Mk 111 question

I am looking at an Everett-Morrison Cobra Mk 111 that is said to have aluminum panels. I thought these cars were only made in fiberglass. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Any thoughts on the market value of these cars and are they considered quality replicas? This one has a sideoiler 427 making 600HP with four Webers. It is in exceptional condition.

Thank you very much.

Does EM have a MK series? I think its only FFR. The Aluminum Panels are everywhere in an FFR. http://www.ozonasgarage.com/alpanels.htm

I think I know which car you're talking about. It was the one at the show on Higgins. I met him at Dudes. Mark from Automotive.
of course I could be wrong.

You should come to the meet at Strat's today. 12pm on North avenue.

Everett-Morrison Cobra Aluminum thread

Hi Sid:

Thanks for your post. I could not find any anwsers to the Aluminum question at the manufacturer's website. I did call them but they are not open on weekends.

I don't think that is the same car. This is a Yellow car with black stripes. It has a 427 side oiler with Webers (600HP). I plan to drive it this week. It is in exceptional show condition but overpriced if Fiberglass (asking $50K), or underpriced if Aluminum.

It is pouring rain in Chicago today, but I would like to attend one of your other events. Just starting the steep learning curve....

Thanks for any help.

Hi JTS,
The body is glass. The aluminum panels are installed over the top of the glass in the engine compartment and the trunk. They are not structural, but they do look good. Click on the camera icon by my name for some pics of the panels that I did in my E-M.

As far as the quality of the kit, much depends on how it was put together. Someone once called the E-M a hot rod built to look like a cobra, and as delivered from E-M I would have to agree. An example of one of the things that I "fixed" was the dash. As delivered from E-M it has a huge hole for the column with a dip extending below the bottom edge of the dash. This is not "correct" so I had to do some cutting and welding to make things as they should be. I've been building on and off for eight years now and much of this time has been spent making things more Cobra and less hotrod, with the exception of my weakness for polished aluminum......That's my one glaring consession to the hotrod look :).

Good luck!
Jon

jts you missed a great meeting! We got Next year all lined up! I'm cobraless for now also. Is that EM in the chicagoland area? We may have snake and eggs tomorrow if the weather holds up. You should at least try to meet us for breakfast. If there is an open seat then maybe you could ride with someone...Thats what I do! LOL! Keep an eye on the forum for the post. Talk to you later.
