Power Tour Motels

Hey Everybody,
As most of you know, the Hot Rod Power Tour starts in Milwaukee this year. On Saturday June 4th it will travel from Milwaukee to Springfield. On Sunday June 5th it goes from Springfield to Indianapolis. The tour will continue south and east, ending in Florida on June 10th.
For more detail information go to www.hotrod.com the follow the menu to the Power Tour.

A number of people have expressed interest in participating for parts of the tour. Some want to spend Friday in Milwaukee, some want to pick up the tour Saturday Morning as it passes by the city. Most of us want to stay overnight in Springfield. On Sunday some want to travel back to Chicago others want to drive into Indianapolis.

Okay, so we will finalize specific plans with each other on Saturday at the club meeting.
As for hotels, we have found the one suggested by the power tour to be very expensive. Since some of us are cheap we have planned to stay at the following Motels.

Milwaukee; Staying Friday night June 3rd – checking out Saturday Morning
Milwaukee Days-Inn
11811 West Blue Mound Road
Wauwatosa, WI 53226
Phone: 414-771-4500
Springfield; Staying Saturday night June 4th – checking out Sunday Morning
Route 66 Motel
625 E St Joseph

Indianapolis; Staying Sunday night June 5th – checking out Monday Morning
Clarion Inn Northwest

Pwr tour

Rich, I think my wife and I are driving up to Milwaukee on Saturday to pick up registration and see the car show, then coming back up again in the morning to start the drive to Springfield, looks like they are stopping for lunch at the J.C. Whitney warehouse then on to Springfield, we might stay the night in Springfield all depends on what time we get there.

Please take a moment to read this.

We miscommunicated the timing of the Hot Rod Power Tour. Originally we reported the tour would leave Milwaukee on Saturday June 4th. This is in Error. The tour will not pull out of Milwaukee until Sunday June 5th at 9:00am in the morning.

This obviously may change individual plans.

If you want the complete driving schedule you can down load it form the web cite.

www.hotrod.com
Click on the power tour;
Click on the schedule; near the bottom of the list is a link to the directions.

I will post again after I change my Hotel reservations to Saturday

RichMusson 05-19-2005 09:35 AM

I just want everyone to know that hotel reservations have been changed. The revised plans call for staying in Milwaukee Saturday evening, June 4th.

Milwaukee Days Inn
11811 West Blue Mound Road
Wauwatosa, WI 53226
414-771-4500
$91.00 for the night
Wauwatosa is a suburb of Milwaukee located approximately 5 miles west of Miller Park down the expressway (Interstate 94).

Sunday Morning June 5th the tour pulls out at 9:00am. The tour plans call for stopping at JC Whitney & Co in LaSalle, Illinois for lunch. My plans are to drive that far then home in the afternoon.

For those that want to continue with the tour the hotels list at the beginning of this thread are still less expensive that those suggested by the Power Tour. Please, just make sure you correct the dates originally shown.

Hope to see y’all there.

What does anyone think? Will the weather wash out this event - like it did last year?

Rich

OhBuoy 06-01-2005 09:04 AM

Weather.com is showing it will, but then again we were supposed to have T-Storms all weekend this weekend. I am thinking of taking advantage of the predicted weather to do my engine swap.

The weather forcast changes every few hours. All weekend they were saying rain and thunderstorms in milwaukee, and it rained a grand total of 30 seconds.
Yesterday morning they predicted a high of 63, and it made 76 degrees.

I will have to swing by Days Inn, it's a mile from my house. Should be a crazy weekend around here !

So...I give up...who's going?

RichMusson 06-02-2005 03:07 PM

Blas,
Maybe just me? I really do not like doing things my myself - makes your eyes go bad.

I'm planning on going

bulletbrown 06-03-2005 09:51 AM

I'm planning on going, where do we meet? I hope it doesnt rain!

RichMusson 06-03-2005 02:14 PM

Okay Guys,
Lets make a decision. Looks like any rain on Saturday will be in the afternoon.
Like I said I am staying over night in Milwaukee on Saturday - So if any in wants to join in lets get on the road and up to Milwaukee before the rain starts.
Just because it may rain it is not over. Remember the WCCC motto - ‘It was not over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor – it is not over until WE say it is over’.

Seriously, once the Power Tour is gone – It will not be back for a while.

So, let’s do this – I will be at the Cracker Barrel at 94 & Route 132 at 10:30am. That is the Gurnee Mills exit off of 94 up by Great America. The Cracker Barrel is just south and east of 94 & 132.

I will leave the parking lot at 11:00. If any one want to join in – that would be nice. If anyone is running late or whatever, my cell is 773-960-7865.

Hope to see y’all tomorrow.

Rich

Yetiman,
What time will you be by the Day-Inn?
Rich
