The HEMI rolls out

I'm still picking the bugs out of my teeth, but it was worth it. I knew once I got the steering in, I'd drive this sucker - so I did!

Nothing fell off and the ride was solid. I can't believe the power, but without a seatbelt (let alone a seat!) I'm not going to push it. Now all you local boys need to come over and help me finish it off.

Impressive.

Just curious, what is the weight difference between you're aluminum head hemi and an aluminum head , iron block FE ?

Seems like in every picture you have an ear-to-ear grinn!
It is well deserved.
If you need help to finish it off. Let us know when.

Hemi Cobra

I was talking to an "Old Drag Racer" and he was showing me his old Hemi stuff. He asked about my car and said "Can you imagin if Chrysler had only listen to Shelby, what a different World it would have been.:JEKYLHYDE

Some interesting questions...

Weight: I'm not sure about the weight of a FE block, but from what I have gathered from various resources (my Sweedish buddy with a HemiPantera: http://hem.passagen.se/hemipanter/) that the 528 HEMI short block is about 450lbs and the total weight is around 630lbs. Let me know what the iron block FE's come in at - I'm curious myself.

Sid - thanks for the support! I feel guilty asking for your help as I know you are deep into your own build. Perhaps after you get back from the fling, you can bring your ride (and tools) over and help out? With regards to my seat, or lack thereof, I'm actually sitting on a few 2x6's attached to a 1/4" piece of plywood. I agree, I can only hope I am shorter with the actual seat or that giant rollbar ain't gonna do much good!

Glad to see a real hemi again. Not that those little ones are bad, yours is the true Hemi.

No doubt the 426 hemi is/was a great engine, wow factor, and has a hell of a legacy. But, the ford 427 wedge can make a lot of power as well. I think the current NHRA ?superstock B record is held by a 427 thunderbolt, besting a '64 hemi SS plymouth.
