Fender flares -- Vette suspension --progress

This is a progress report. There were some requests for info but they were lost due to the server outage.

For the front, I cut the existing fender flare and used pipe hangar strap to support the lip in the new position. I glassed the bottom first with 4 layers. I removed the strap material and am now filling the gap and glassing the top with 4 layers.

For the rear, I cut off about 0.5 inch of the lip at the top and mounted a pre-made flare using the same strap material. I cut radial slits to form the flare to the fender. I followed with 4 layers of glass on the bottom. The top will get the same 4 layers and be built up to match the contour of the front.

I am using West System epoxy(no odor, no loss of brain cells).

Pictures are available.

I see you are old school on tire direction

Were you out to our shop last Saturday with the other WCCC guys(and gals)?

I live off Fair Oakes road 1/2 mile south of Army Trail and would like to see your flares as I also have an EM with C4 suspension

It is a Holley 750; looks small between the tall valve covers.

The tire direction is the result of not paying my "pit crew". Planning to use Team III rims and BFG T/A KD tires. The old Vette rims will need a new home.

No I did not make it to your shop; I was "glassin".

I am working on it every Sat and Sunday afternoon; I am on Kiowa Court in Arrowhead and in the phone book. Give me a call when you want to set a time.

I decided to replace a Holley 750 when I couldn't get a local carb rebuilder to put it in his pipeline. It may have had a bigger profile because of the (non functioning) electric choke. I traced my title back to Ill. in the early 80s. Possibly an Allied, run by Dean Morrison in Neb. before he moved to Fla and sold the molds to the Everetts who began EM approx 1983.
