Any Events planned for August?

I plan on being in the Chicago area (Itasca) the middle of August; and then on up to Wisconsin for a HS class reunion (8-18 & 8-19). Carol and I are wondering if there are any track events planned anywhere around that time (I would love to run Elkart Lake)!!!!!!!!!! If so, I will trek the Cobra up for some fun, if I can join in. I can alter my travel plans somewhat for a "Good Time."

This Sunday the WCCC is getting together for our 2006 calendar planning meeting to layout this summers agenda. Last August the club had a poker run one weekend, the club picnic on another and I seem to recall open track time at the Autobaun Race track in Joliet (suburb of Chicago). After Sunday's meeting we should have a better handle on this summers events. You may want to check our calendar of events at www.windycitycobras.com for more up to date postings.

You should just plan to bring the cobra with regardless. I am sure the guys would be more than happy to take you for a cruise in Illinois.

The Autobahn track day that we attended will actually be September 30th-October 1st (think it was then last year as well). The Northwoods Cobra CLub is having a track event at Road America on August 8th and 9th, and like Mark said, WCCC is planning events for the year this weekend. They are always cruising, hitting the drag strip or causing other havoc, so bring the car along.

This is what I see on the calendar for August:
(Best bet for a Cobra and your expressed interest... Road America with the Northwoods Cobra Club 8/5 & 6 Looks like it could fit in nicely with your schedule. NASA has Cobras in wheel to wheel racing and certainly in HPDE but that's in Ohio.)

I got together with the North Woods Shelby Club, and it looks like I will be joining it at Elkart Lake on the 5th and 6th of August. :)
I'll probably have the car in the Chicago area for about 2-weeks after Elkart, so l'll be ready to play. :)
