Sounds like a plan to me. We can meet out west or converge on a common site.

Bob

Hey Bob, why don't you call me on my cell phone and we can figure it out.
Arcenio 773-505-9345
hey by the way Mike what is (OCB)?

So Mike we are only meeting at the Cracker Barrell around 6:30ish and on the road by 7:00 a.m.?

That puts us in Indy around 9-ish? Also are we driving around Indy or through downtown?
They have a rush hour too. Not like ours but still, a rush hour.

So, which way did they go Tonto?
Hmmmm Keemosabee me don no?
Maybee ethem go data way --->
Hi ohhh Silver awaayyyyy.............

jeffko 05-17-2006 11:31 AM

Looks like we got us a convoy!

mdmull 05-17-2006 11:39 AM

Arsenio - changed to Cracker Barrel - (Brain fart)
Assuming that the "convoy" makes it to Indy b4 a gas stop is required, it's about 2 hours, but add the eastern zone & you are at 10:00. All good Hoosiers are at work by then. Easier to go around - my map software says within two miles of same distance.

RichMusson 05-17-2006 02:10 PM

Mike,
Last year everyone when around; except me I went through.
Truth is I missed the turn. It’s a long story but mostly I was tied of being passed by Red Cars; then Marty shot past me. I freaked and accelerated when I should have been slowing down.
Anyway, there was a long construction delay; I ending up making it past Indianapolis the better part of an hour before everyone else.
First I waited by the side of the road then I drove down to the next gas stop and waited for the caravan.
Point is – it does not really matter, you need to wait for the rest of the group either way.

Meet You in Indy

I plan to drive from Champaign on Thursday morning. Can can be at Indy anytime 8, 9, 10, 11. Those of you familar with the route, please suggest a meeting place. I'm staying at the Hampton, is this where most are staying?

CHRIS DAMSCH 05-17-2006 08:16 PM

Yes, we are all staying at the Hampton. Can't wait to see everybody in London again this year.

Does anybody know if Blas plans on going this year?

jeffko 05-17-2006 09:00 PM

I think we need a clutch replacement party at the big dogs pit. Is Sid out of the way?

mdmull 05-17-2006 09:39 PM

Sid's is out, he couldn't afford any more rent - Heineken now has light beer, but it's pricey.

Michael

RichMusson 05-18-2006 01:15 PM

Okay
I have tried very hard to keep-up with and understand this post.
I get the idea that many of the guys especially those from the West and North areas plan to meet at the Cracker Barrel and hit the road fairly early. That is, pulling out of the CB at like 7:00am.
I even get that a few guys want to hook-up with the caravan as it passes the Indianapolis area. The exact meeting place has yet to be set.
I must admit I have no idea who needs a clutch replacement or why; but I do understand the need to have beer while doing the work.
That all said, everyone has missed the most important part of this whole issue.
That is of course; where will Frank, Joe, the cold Heineken and the Margarita Machine be while all of this is going on?
I really need this information so I can rethink my own plans.

Alternate route back from London

I know a lot of you guys in WCCC have given time and attention
to getting OUT of Dodge for the LCS.
How about the return flight that was where we ran into the horrible traffic.
I certainly don't want to do that again in 90+ degree heat,
and I was in my air conditioned SUV towing it back!
So has anyone considered alternate routes for the return?

OhBuoy 05-23-2006 04:36 PM

Guys, I just made the trip to Cincinatti last night. I-80 going into Indiana to get to 65 was a freaking zoo!!! It goes down to one lane. We sat there for about 30-45 minutes last night at 6:30 at night! At this time, my fate for London is undecided, however, I thought I would pass along the bad news on I-80. Maggie was looking at the map, and she was even saying "if we stayed on 57 and went out of our way, we would still be ahead. She was right. The worst part is, once you commit to it, you cannot get off either. Once into Indiana, it moved a little, but was still kind of tight. There were parts that I sure was glad I was not pulling a trailer.

PS guys, Maggie and I have a lot going on right now. Really do not want to get into details, but if you could keep us and Brandon in your thoughts, it would be appreciated.

Tom

jeffko 05-23-2006 05:08 PM

You sure will be Tom. Hoping everything turns out ok!

jeffko 05-23-2006 05:09 PM

Thanks for the update Arcenio and Tom. Back to the drawing board!

Alternative route

I was thinking of going down 57 and over on 74.
That would let us skip the madness.
I know it's a bit farther but from a gasoline point of view,
My suv gets terrible milage pulling a trailer in stop and go.
My patience isn't all that good either......

Rather be moving at 70mph than sitting in a one lane hell.

RedSnake351 05-24-2006 08:49 AM

What about us western guys jumping on 47 south to 74 then east to Indianapolis? Or even take Rt 39 south, I know it's a little out of the way but good, less traveled roads.
