Please help me find "my" car!

My first car was a 1977 Mustang Cobra (white/red). Foolishly, I sold it about 1980. It was a 4 cylinder. Last I can find, it was titled in 1992 in southern Illinois. Can anyone help me find it? Suggestions?
I DO have the VIN. Thanks!

Contact the State....
This is the wrong forum for this I think....

Now wait a minute Blas,,,,,,, take it easy on the guy,,,,,,, I think that I may have seen that car in the Aldi's parking lot in Hanover Park a couple of years ago. Was it a red Mustang six cylinder or four cylinder Cobra with heavy rust on the back quarter panel? Did it have yellow racing stripes down the right side with duct tape over the tail lites? If thats the one let me know 'cause I think a buddy of mine named Hectormantayocarlossangria Del Chavezinski owned it for about 1 and 1/2 months or so. But wait I think that that was back in "75". Oh crap I think that might be a different car?

Never mind.%/

I spoke with him off-line...
I mentioned the state (Illinois) can search for a car for you with a VIN #, but they can't give you the information as to who ownes it now. But I think they will contact the current owner for you and pass your name to him...But they only search their records if they were put on computer...and I forget what year that started....Kinda like looking for an old girlfriend, you may be better off with your memories and vision of what she USED to look like....

Hey Blas and Wolfie - thanks for trying to help... It's not the one you're thinking of, Wolfie, I don't think. It was white, with red stripes. I will try DMV again, and beg them to call the person listed for the 1992 title, etc. We'll see what happens. And you're right... I am scared what I may find... maybe better to keep memories? Thanks, Kathy.

And, again, sorry if this is the wrong place to post, but I'm trying everything I can think of.

you know any cops?

carterkatt 05-16-2006 07:48 AM

No.... I live in Virginia now - and I think I need an IL cop to help me. Suggestions??? thanks!

You never know, maybe the car was parted out with some suspension pieces ending up on one of those cobra kit cars.

Be careful. Don't post the VIN here. Someone may try to build an "aircar" Mustang Cobra out of a plain old Mustang.

I bet it would not matter what state...they should have availability to get all the info....may not be too cool to do if that is breaking a rule...and I have no idea if that is the case
