Boom!!!!!!!!!
Hey club members, I need some help.
I broke again! I at least got to the end of the day this time. Shifted from 3rd to 4th and [b]BOOM[b] clutch exploded! Any ideas? As we all know I'm pretty soft on the car:LOL: Any one put in a race kit or street/strip package. I'm looking for some feed back. Thanks, Glen |
Ouch; Glen I put in a Centerforce Clutch and Flywheel and have had good luck to date. I know there is several good aftermarket units out there. Call Jerry Clayton and see what he has to say . 630-365-6737
I would bet he has threaded a few clutchs |
Ram has a new dual disk and aluminum flywheel out now that is a very good unit, and is very light. It comes with a price tag too, almost $1300.00, or you could go with there HD version which will handle a lot of power, when I worked for Lone Star Classics the HD Ram was all we put in our cars. Hope I could be of some assistance. jimig@standardtransmission.com

I have the RAM aluminum flywheel. It is SFI rated. I love it.
|
Sorry to hear that, but look on the bright side, it will be way better than before when yu get it fixed. You may be in the 10 sec bracket with a new clutch.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Wolfie and I are now letting in non-family members. Blue rules........... |
Sir, your toast is burning!
Glen, I believe this link shows the picture when your clutch was about to be toast:

Thanks Ralph!
Blue smoke is clutch, White smoke is tire. I'm sorry, Blue is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Chris, can I get that card in Blue? Will it be a card that can be punched? If so, 3 track days 3 punches. This just go's to show you BLUE cars go all out! Glen |
Glen
I have the info you sent me--but I need to know if your input is the large 1 3/8 or the small 1 1/16 size Did you replace some parts after Byron and lose it again? Jerry |
Talk to Red at McLeod.....good advise and no Bull$xxt.
He is very experienced and has never failed to provide to right parts for an application. http://www.mcleodind.com/ Tony R. |
The input shaft is 1 1/6"
The flywheel is cast w/2 drill holes for balance. That dual disk sound like the ticket, but is it worth it? I do run the slicks at the track. Jerry, let me know what you think. Glen B. |
Hey Glen,
You don't need slicks to run in the 12's. Save 'em for the 10's Sorry, I couldn't resist. |
Then how did you do it Chris?
Sorry, I could not resist either. |
Glen,
For what it's worth I have a brand new 12" carbon/metalic hi-performance clutch disc from McLeod that was purely a back up. I never had any problems with the clutch and now have sold the car. It costs $165 shipped new and will sell it fo $100 plus shipping if it would help. This clutch held 550 hp with no problem at all. However, I did not run slicks but it is the same cross reference part for the Corvette guys and they push power and slicks routinely. If your interested I go grap the part number. |
Thanks every one.
I am looking at the McLeod "Street Twin" The kit is a Flywheel, twin disc clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing. I talked to two people that have them in there street cars and they like them. Thanks again, Glen B. |
Man I look good.
|
Is that the first Blue car you beat on the track.
Oh....................It's broken, maybe thats why.:D |
