Did I imagine it...

I thought Gov. Blagojevich passed a highway law that allows ISP to pull over people in the left lane that are not passing but just sitting there. You know those guys that are doing 55 in the left lane and have 20 cars behind them? And the right lane is empty? Did imagine this law? Did I want a law like this so bad that I told myself it happened? I tried finding it online but couldn't.

No, I think it's a law now. One more way to get pulled over for no good reason.

Bryan Wilson 10-29-2006 12:04 AM

It's a law on this side of the pond that everybody ignores.
The quickest way to get anywhere on the freeways is to travel in the slow lane as all the slowpokes are in the fast lane.
Cheers,
Bryan

A quote from the Il Sec St site:
"Effective January 2004, when driving on an interstate highway or full access controlled freeway, a person may not drive in the left lane, except when passing another vehicle. Exceptions include when no other vehicle is directly behind the vehicle being driven in the left lane, when traffic conditions/congestion make it impractical to drive in the right lane, when weather conditions make it necessary to use the left lane, when there is an obstruction or hazard in the right lane, or when the driver is changing lanes to yield to emergency or construction vehicles."

Support for someone other than a Democrat or Republican, anyone?

Nothing makes me happier than seeing the stupid schmuck with a bunch of cars on his @ss in the left lane, getting pulled over!!!! Look in your rear view mirror!
If there are a whole bunch of cars on your @ss, pull over to the right!
The morons who cause this problem "left lane riders", create some of the most dangerous situations on the road today. FINE THEM HEAVILY.
In Europe I think it is immediate loss of license, besides the fact they may kill you.

Driving below the speed limit in the left lane is only permissible if you're on the phone...

What triggered this was last night I was coming back from Midway and I took the right lane all the way back on 290. Because it was clear!!! I looked behind me (like any normal person would.) and saw all these cars stacked behind the guy in the left lane and middle lane! Both guys where pacing each other. And they wonder why people get so pissed. Thats the part that boggles me the most. My note to society: "Please try to look outside the little bubble you live in." And of course you can start doing this after you finish your conversation on the cell phone in the left lane doing..not 55 no no...more like 35-45. MORONS!

NO PASSING ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE YELLOW LINE !
That's NASCAR rules. Is it against the law if you don't get caught ?

Wolfie 10-29-2006 06:47 PM

Wow Sid ,,,, it sounds like you were on the verge of a major road rage incedent! Can't you just mellow out like me?:MECOOL:

I wish they would enforce it more. We have it in Jersey too. I figure; if any one wants to go faster than me, then I will gladly pull over for them. I wish they would pay me the same courtesy, as opposed to me having to high beam them. I had a young high school girl give me the finger on Route 80 two weeks ago when she was putzing along in the left lane and all I wanted to do was pass her legally. Passing on the right in Jersey is a gauranteed ticket here. That's a good law you have if they enforce it.

Bernie,

The fastest lane anywhere on RT80 in NJ is the far right lane, you should know that. ;) Of course all bets are off when it comes to RT15 in Jefferson Township  .

Left lane law

Hmmm... it's another way they can pull you over and say...
Left lane ticket or no seat belt ticket?
Which of these lovely prizes would you like today?
Left lane riding is $100.00 , No seat belt $50.00.

The state troopers on either side of
the Wisconsin / Ill. border have a field day with it.%/
