I went, I worked, I had fun.
I think there were some surprises that came out of the new rules. I was just happy to be able to see some friends and talk with good people. :D :D :D |
I think they would have been better off to cancel the main street drags vs. putting all the ridiculous restrictions on it. Something as simple as not having any spectators past the launch area should have been good enough, but that wasn't followed.

Dwight,
Yep, it's a 347, stock heads that have been modified; roller rockers, screw in studs, larger valves, etc. Intake is a 1960's vintage tri-power setup. Cam is a hydraulic roller Crower #15513 It dyno'd at the flywheel; 383 Horsepower @ 5750 rpm, 414 ft-lbs torque @ 4000 rpm. I'm guessing that with a modern intake and carb it would probably be closer to 420HP and a little more torque. I have the whole data sheet if you want me to email it to you. - Dan |
relaxinrob ....
seems those restrictions raised a record amount of money just for the 'drives' ....seems to me it was safer, saner and more income producing . the intent is to raise money, it beat last year's by a lot ...works for me . Bill |
AMEN Bill...
YES, the event WAS safer... Some of the new restrictions, 100% necessary... But, when all was said and done, a record amount of money was made for the worthy cause, FUN was had by passengers AND drivers, and once again, NOBODY was harmed... Win, Win, Win, if you ask me.... |

Dwight,
Just sent you the sheet Dan |
I had the best time ever this year, even despite the rain. I drive 500 miles just to get to London. I pretty much go to socialize and see the cars; not to drive some more, so it didn't bother me to miss the Hocking Hills drive.
The evenings were the most enjoyable part of the weekend for me, under the WCCC "Hospitality Tent", and the drive into London and the Saturday dinner were very enjoyable also. Bill Parham was a very entertaining speaker and I really enjoyed hearing Dennis Olthoff and seeing his slide show. I had some MAJOR reservations about the whole "Cobra rides on Main Street" idea, but I thought this year's event was very well done with tight speed control and enforced compliance. To read above that a record amount was collected for Cobra rides indicates that the OCC guys definitely moved the program in the right direction. I attended the second, third and fourth SF/LCC's, then had to miss the last two years' events, so was really looking forward to this year. Every year has been different, but LCC '07 will be hard to top. The seekend program pretty much offered someting for everyone and the highly visible shirts identifying the event staff was a great idea. I can't say enough good things about the OCC guys and gals who put all this together. THANKS AGAIN, OCC! Lowell |
