Tire Pressure
How many pounds of air pressure do you run in your tires. Provide your tire size and list street, track and drag air pressure.
I was running with 32# but have since learned that as a rule of thumb, no more than 1# per 100# of car weight. Now I run - -- Street - 22# rear and 25# front Track - I don't do track Drag - 18# rear and 25# front |
Good Year Eagles (Bill Boards) 25-27 for street and track.

Yokohama Avid S/T -- 28psi in the front, 26psi in the rear. Reasonably neutral handling.

On my car max front 44 psi 235-60R-15
max rear 35 psi 295-50R-15 this max psi printed on the sidewall of course this would give the best tire and gas mileage for street use.:D |

BFG G-Force 28 front and 24 rear street only. Best traction on wet and dry roads. Softer ride.
Dwight Woody2 I think 44 & 32 psi is to much for our light cars on the street. Try 28 psi front & rear and see the differents. Better traction and softer ride. |
Why are you guys running so much air pressure?? I tried all of the above and the most even tire wear and neutral handling came with 18# front and rear. Better ride, also. 245-60R-15 and 295-50R-15 Goodyear GT2's. Dynamic also recommended lower pressures.

I run with 22 pounds in both front and rear on the BFG radial T/A's that came on the SPF. 255 60 15 front and 295 55 15 rear. It seems to be a reasonable compromise between performance and economy. (Did I just use the word economy while describing anything that has to do with a Cobra? I am sorry!)
SPF recommends 18 for normal and 25 for performance driving, I have not dropped the pressures to 18 pounds yet, seems a little low to me. Experimentation will tell you what your car and you prefer. |

26 front, 24 rear. 235/15/60 Pirelli P600 fronts, 275/60 Nitto DR rear. I also autox with the same pressure/tires with quite satisfactory results. (Here's a recent video I posted in another thread: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3-x_6Tg6lQ).
For drag racing I lower to 20 psi in the DR's. Could probably go lower. |
The max tire pressure on the tire sidewall is MAX air pressure ,not the recommended,anything above that is dangerous! A Cobra is a light car and even on the track 30 -32 is more than enough, for the street take the advise given above ,mid 20's
