Windy City at Run and Gun
What would it take to get some of you guys from the north to drive down for the event? Any chance of passing out flyers at you meetings?

I'd be interested in taking a ride down for the weekend if I'm not working.
Anybody else? Lowell |
Food works for me.
I can not compete with you guys with your FAST cars. I drive the only GEO powered Cobra around. Rich |
I promise, there will be plenty of food and assorted beverages. I talked to the Bud distributor today. We have a great time at the event and we would love to see a big turnout for the 20 year anniversary.

Weekend of my birthday! Cake? I may head down.

Rich,
Funny you should say that because one of the fastest cobra's ever on the drag strip was a V-6 Buick powered. By the way I am told there is going to be a GT-40 with a 4 cyl Nissan engine this year. I think creativity is great, it is just not for me. Run and Gun is not all about speed but having fun in a controlled environment with other owners and drivers that have as much respect for your car as they do their own. There is a lot of fun to be had on street tires in the street class. Even the novice class is a great entry level for a lot of people. Clois |
I was at the R&G in 1996 and again in 1998. Early in the program, it was a lot of fun and it was just way exciting on that Gateway Raceway. Started the week doing 65MPH on the half-circle, and toward the end of practice, was doing 100MPH and 140MPH on the straightaway.
Uh, yeah, the V6 was mine :-) I won my class in 98 and won the Quick 8 in 96 as I can recall. I would recommend it for the road course alone. It's waaaay cool and you're there for the stretch so you have plenty of track time. |
There will always be food and there will always be some lively conversation and rumor has it the gasoline powered margarita machine will be working overtime.
We would certainly like to see a bigger turnout from the Windy City even if you just want to watch as a spectator. Some of the Kit Car manufacturers are going to be there to give demo rides so if you are shopping for a Cobra or other Kit Car you can do some side by side comparisons. John I remember your car very well and there was another V-6 Cobra from Atlanta I believe in 2002. You are definetly very quick. I hope you consider returning this year. Clois |
Posting the details might help.
date, location, schedule of events, web-link... I'm sure that there are some folks that are unfamiliar or only vaguely familiar... I'd love to make it there some year. Not likely this year. |

Did I miss a date here somewhere?
Is there a preferred hotel chain involved here? |
Clois,
That other V6 Buick was non turbo. Justa6 I think is his Clubcobra.com handle. |
I know the guy, his name is Bob Mustic, and his car is a 5 speed normally aspirated single carb stage motor, 4.1L V6. The car runs 10's without a turbo! Nice setup too. It's an Everett-Morrison.Whata ride.

John,
When I saw your car at Run and Gun I was a spectator trying to make a decision on brand vs budget. You were quite impressive. It would be great to see your ole hot rod on the track again. Run and Gun dates are October 11-13 with a special test and tune seminar and track session on Wednesday October 10, 2007 (the Wed session cost an extra $100 but it is well worth it). Clois |
I had been thinking og this years run n gun to be the debut of my car, I still would like to make it but the prospects for it are dimming--altho I have the nascar radiator/oil heat exchanger, and the exhaust wouldn't be a problem, I have mixed feelings on how far I want to go on the cage/safty items. I would like it to be more a drivable road car, but the racer in me wants to let Corey road race it---we have been to most of the big road race tracks and he has dominated with the karts, but------
