Status on next weeks event?

What's the status on next weeks club event towards Road America?
Has a route been firmed up? Maps?
We need to see some of our new members at this event...
The seasons running out...

We'd love to join you but Michelle and I will be on the the track at Road America. You're welcome to cruise up a little farther and check it out.

There will be lunch time track touring available. (45 minutes) Cheaper and less crowded than at BRIC. Great for one hooped roll bar Cobra's. No helmet necessary. Might be able to tour for free by volunterring.

We also know a great back roads route from R.A. to Richfield, Wisconsin (northwest suburb of Milwaukee) and a terrific Italian restaurant to stop at on the way back. We'll probably take that route on the way home Sunday evening.

Chicago Marathon

We can't make the RA weekend. My daughter & I are signed up for the marathon in Chicago.

Bob Malmen 10-02-2007 11:25 AM

If the weather holds out I will drive the cobra, if there is rain I use the tow vehicle aka Hummer!

speed 10-02-2007 02:55 PM

Robert,

That's right! Have a great time... and a great "time" at the Marathon!

Bob,

So far, looks like we should get plenty of nice weather between the rain. (Cross our fingers.)

To All:

I just drove past Elkhart Lake this morning on my way up to Chilton, WI. The trees are just starting to turn colors the farther north I got past Milwaukee. If the weather holds up I would like to take a drive up to Road America. Maybe we can get Dave to provide us with his scenic route to enjoy on the way up there. "We also know a great back roads route from R.A. to Richfield, Wisconsin (northwest suburb of Milwaukee)".

It's quite simple:

The route as we know it is Highway 175 starting at Highway 167. (Northwest of Milwaukee)

Going Northwest on Highway 175 until it connects with Highway 67 (right)going northth east until you're at Road America at County J.

Lot's of rolling hill's winding turns beautiful seclude country scenery.

We've only done it southbound but it shouldn't be a problem northbound. Just watch the signs. Stay on 175. Watch for 67. Can't miss Road America.

Should take a little over an hour. There are quicker routes. There may be nicer ones we haven't figured out yet. But this one is nice!

Make sure you're tank's topped off gas stations can be few and far between in some parts.

The restaurant we like is just north of 167 on 175 (brick building - parking in back) Amici's (Italian)

WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU GUYS UP THERE. WOULD LOVE TO DO THE DRIVE WITH YOU TOO... BUT we'll be up there Friday night.

We need a sponsor to chaperone the group. David's route looks great. All you have to do is take his route, map a few copies and lead the way.

hot427cobra 10-04-2007 07:19 PM

So who is interested in heading up north? Can I get a show of hands.

Mark

I was planning on going but death in our extended family cancelled those plans.

All I can say is you guys have a good time wish I could go.

Ride muchacos Ride!

speed 10-05-2007 01:52 PM

I'm on my way. Hope to see you up there! Have a great weekend!

hot427cobra 10-05-2007 03:36 PM

I got maps for the back roads that David had suggested. Who needs one?

We will be heading up the Tri-State 294 until we get just north of Milwaukee. From that point the remaining route is through the countryside. Should be a beautiful day and one more chance to get the cobras out on the road before Mother Nature begins to give us problems - cold weather:(. The plan is to meet at the Lake Forest Oasis and be ready to rock and roll at 8:30am. Please let me know who is coming so we don't miss anyone.

Another Hit at RA!

The weather for a weekend at Road America was absolutely perfect! It was a shame that Fred and Joe broke their toys on the track and left early, but they both had plans to get them fixed and promised to get those toys back on the track.
Dave and Michelle got a lot of track driving in and I never saw anyone pass Michelle from the vantage point I had. Dave tells me she never used anything but 4th gear around the track after the initial start. Look for her to be the next Danica Patrick once she starts going through the gears.
Bob ran trouble-free and should have a couple of track footage videos from his rollbar mounted camera. Hopefully he will download them so we can all enjoy some track action shots, specially of a few cool spinouts in turn 5. (Sorry, Bob, but they really did look cool and you didn't hit anything!) :D
