I have not heard of any 'incident'; neither Long Grove nor Chocolate.
I am totally impartial.
I would never consider bartering my ManCard vote for a RibFest vote.

I also have no idea where Bookers is located.

Booker's
420 N Mclean Blvd, South Elgin, IL

Don't Mapquest or maps.google.com it. The directions show it being south of W. Spring St. This is incorrect.

It is at the intersection of W. Spring St and McLean Blvd in South Elgin. North of the McDonald's. You have to drive back behind McDonald's to get to it.

Hey Judges,
Take a look at Arcy’s Lift Building Party post…………
I’m just saying.

Name withheld upon request.

Oh yeah the "Rib Fest"

Well let's see...

I've been soooooo busy playing with the lift I almost forgot!

DA RIB FEST!!!

Picked up the first, second and third prizes.
Yeah, yeah, I know but hey it's a start.

I have not heard from Mr. Shelby about judging this event (Rich not Carol).
I have had confirmation from Drivin the back roads Marano, and I beleive that
"Drinks like a girl" (her real indian name) Sid, but ther may be one open spot!

Hmmmmmm...... another club member? a ringer? er or I mean a
totally impartial unbiased person of interest?

Warm up those grills, fire up those coals, fill up those propane tanks!
(ooops that reminds me!)

You rookies better start practicing, wether to use rub, or mop...
spicy sauce, or hickory flavored, ahhh and the list goes on.....
(can't give away any highly guarded secrets here).

My recipies have been handed down from generation to generation!
My poor old great great, great, grandmom waiting to see the new land
clutched these recepies while crossing the big water.
Yep it is a little known fact, that these ships had gotten blown off course,
and had to take the southern route in via Mexico.
Dont forget at that time Mexico extended as far north as Chicago!

These never before revealed facts of these ships, La Nika, La Pica and La Santa Banana, while enduring many storms, struggles and hardships!
Got tossed and turned on a three hour cruise, a three hour cruise......

They brought these recipies so they could celebrate!!!
By simply carving out some oikners making some margaritas and saying YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Time to party!!!!!!!!!

We have at last arrived!!!!

I'm a former resident of Crete Ill. (taught biology at C-MHS in the early 70's). I believe that makes me an ex-cretion. Anyway, the best ribs I ever laid a lip across was at "Jardine's" in Tinley Park. Anybody know if that restuarant still exists?

I enjoy lurking on the WCCC site. Red snakes are AWESOME!!!

RichMusson 06-18-2008 06:14 PM

Wow a totally impartial, unbiased, upstanding, honest person to be a judge…………… That description fits me like an Orenthal James Glove.

I just want it to be known that if drafted it will be my honor to accept the assignment. I pledge to do my part to insure that a driver of a car, of the appropriate color, wins the properly colored ribbon. That is the color of the ribbon which has historically signified excellence in all contests for which ribbons are awarded. I pledge to keep this tradition moving forward into the next millennium.

I understand that as a judge of this contest I will be required to vote for the winner. My background and credentials speak for themselves. I am from Chicago. Since the age of 12 and 1/2 I have always exercised my voting rights several times in every single election that has taken place. This of course includes the several years I lived in New York.
So, as you can see; I am an experienced voting machine.

Besides I do not need to taste the other entries to know who gets my vote.......I am just saying

Er, er, ah, ah………….. I mean let the best man win.
So long as he drives a blue car

Saw Rich (Illegitimate) Shelby today. Didn't know he had not responded. I've decide not to be his babysitter anymore! KM can do that!

I'm going to sway my vote for "Chi Town" Rich CPA. ("Chicago" Public Accountant) to be a judge with me. And do my taxes Chicago style.
Rumor has it he went to a prestigious college. You know the one Sally Struthers keeps taking about.

Okay,
Now this is a great example of Chicago-style politics.

Here’s the formula:
1. Start by making-up a few rules.
2. Then exchange certain ‘Man–Vote’ favors.
3. Make a few promises you can never keep.
4. Here is the best part ---The top it all off by voting for yourself -- twice!!!!

Works every time……..
I am just saying……..

looks like 80s that day!

mdmull 06-30-2008 07:55 AM

Arcy - you better list a start time for this event. Otherwise some of the attendees may join you for breakfast, others (RS) will show up Sunday. Oh yeah, will there be valet parking?

snake oil 06-30-2008 04:56 PM

Yes The Ribfest !!!!!!!!!!!!!

HOW ABOUT WE SAY 1:00 P.M. (that's afternoon for the record)

The way we think this is coming together is this;

Contestant brings ribs, we give them a number.
Pulling a number out of a hat sounds good to me.
It will be a engine size ie; 289, 351, 427 etc etc.%/

After that we eat said ribs.
Judges get a taste, pick by a few by different things such as,
Sauce, texture,tenderness, etc.

There will be prizes given to the best three.

After that party time!

RichMusson 06-30-2008 05:00 PM

Arcy
Do you need any help setting up? We could probably stop by the day before or we could come by early - let me know.
Also I plan on bringing my typical side dish (MGD- Light). Judy plans on making Guac......
What else can we bring?

Steno 06-30-2008 10:04 PM

Have to cancel out ,have a new family thing to attend.

Arcy,

What time is official Judging time? 3pm?

Sid

snake oil 07-01-2008 07:14 AM

Official judging time?

Wow yous guyz are getting too weird... official judging time?

Confucios Say: The early bird catches the worm, first come first serve, in other words around1:00

My nephew LOVES RIBSand would be willing to be an impartial judge.
So if you get here late and there ain't no finger lickin, sauce drippin,
juicy barbqued ribs left then, grasshopper... you are S.O.L.

The judges will be tasting as soon as they get here.
There shall be no "waiting" to taste ribs.
Ribs come up grab some and vote.
The only democratic way to do it...Some get and the late ones don't.
Or at least that's the way I think democrtas do it. Ask Hilary and Barack.

The way it's shaping up now is about twenty or so slabs of ribs ?

I have no regimented schedule... it goes smething like...
Bring ribs, set out the food, eat, party, repeat as many times as possible.
Kinda like that...yeah that sounds good to me.

Oh by the way you guys are definetly welcome to bring your cobras of course.
I thought that went without saying but too late I said it.%/

Oh and by the way DON"T COME IN YOUR NICEY NICE CLOTHES...
this ain't no fashion contest. There is a rumor that there will be a water balloon contest.
North against the south? Red against blue? Big blocks against small blocks?
Crappy T's and shorts flip flops yeah that's the ticket.

Please check email for directions
Thanks
