Sorry but the old "please don't hijack the thread" excuse is very lame. Someone posts pictures of a car. People comment on the car. Some posts clearly love the car, some a bit vague, and mine is clearly not in love with the car. So mine is now hijacking the thread and not wanted. What about other posts like, "Nice!! I am not a big fan of front grills but that one looks good!" This is an opinion. Was this hijacking of the thread? Apparently if the opinion is not positive it is hijacking the thread. What a joke. I will just have to get smart like CobraEd and post "Hmmmmm" in the future when I see something that I don't like and you guys can translate that however you want. |

Hmmmmm
;) Just practicing |
The hi-jack occurred beginning with "A reminder" and ended with "someday". Perhaps a new thread about the future existence of a "cobra forum" would bring different results.
Just sayin' MM |
Cup Holders...... How much of your drink is left by the time you hit 4th:LOL:
|
original recreation?????? something wrong with those two words used together-----
|
Yeah I never liked that either.
|
quick change
|
Always open to good suggestions.
|
Cool. I like the cup holder. The center console/storgage area/arm rest is really cool too- that would be handy and keep the cell phone and sun glasses from flying all over the place.
|
I like the 'original look' myself, but what about REAL Cobras with 8-track stereos and antennas added to them, is that OK? Hell I saw one once where the owner added a puffy looking dash pad and painted 198 or something on the side....
 |
Maricopa, please keep your comments on this thread specifically and exclusively focused on the grill work on the car pictured in the first post. Anything deviating from that is considered hijacking the thread and there has been no previous mention of 8-tracks. Oh, and make sure that the comments about the grill are all positive. ;)
|
How deep is the console, hmmmmmmmm?
|
David,
Nice handy work on the interior. Not a fan of any grill on a cobra. But looks like good craftsmanship...as usual! This is one SICK BDR! John do you have a picture of the clear tail lights David has on the car? Sid |
You know, as I read this it is funny how things get twisted and are taken when typed and not spoken.
First off I think the detail and the work that went into the console and grill are great. It takes time, experience and initiative, to come up with your own design, deveop it and finally make it. I imagine some will be asking if any of these parts may be offered for sale in the future. I think they look great but not sure I would do it in my Cobra kit, but I am sure I am doing plenty that others will scratch their head and question, why did he do that, and thats fine its all a part of it. I think this thread took a turn with richsd first post. "Detail" is not the first word that comes to mind for me. A reminder as to why I haven't looked at this forum for over 6 months. I hope that a Cobra forum will exist someday. Not the most polite or professional way to state your opinion, in my opinion. With one sentence you stated pretty clearly your dislike for the after market options added here, but then you go on and slam the whole forum, and its hard not to feel somewhat offended by the comments. Everyone on here has a love for the Cobra, some build them to be exact replicas of the original, some are unsure what orignal is and some love to hot rod theres. You dont have to like them all or any of them, and I feel you are free on this forum to state your opinion without being beaten down, but then manner in which you offer your opinion determines the feed back you will get. My first thoughts when reading your first post is "wow: this guy really hates these modification and has a real issue and dislike for this forum. If this would have been my thread and pictures of modifications I had made I would have really been offended by your comments. But as I read all of your post on this thread I agree that you have a valid point and I agree it should be a seperate thread to get your opinion out and to get feedback on it. It sounds to me like you are really questioning why someone would buy or build a replica of a Cobra and then start modifing it and making so many change it no longer truely replicates the car it is a replica of, well thats a valid question, I did it with mine and I cant tell you why other then I wanted to and I could. I wonder if there is a forum for 32' Ford coupes that is asking why these are being hot rodded and not being built to replicate the original as Henery Ford designed, as these are all replicas after all. Just my 2 maybe 3 cents. Jim |
This past weekend I was at a cruise-in and there was a guy there with a West Coast Cobra, it was the first (and only) one I have seen (mine is a Superformance). The fellow spent some time explaining the advantages and virtues of the WC kit to me. To be honest, I was thinking "this thing is a cobra in a clown suit". Afterwards, I was sitting and thinking about my encounter. This guy was as proud as punch of his snake. He built it; it is what he wanted and he is thouroughly enjoying the fruits of his labor. His snake is not the one I want but it is the one he wants and what the hell, who is he out to please... me or himself? It really was a striking car, he did a great job. More power to him.

After collecting a bird in my brake cooler duct a couple weeks ago :( maybe some sort of 'grill' would be useful, I just have to figure out how to run propane to it.
|
Can't we all... just get along? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?!?
|
Great looking car!!!!
The problem is it is nothing like an original. The originals were really crude, ill handling and poorly put together. If you want your car to look like an original put on a marginal paint job, drink heavily before trying to align anything and take off anything that makes the car easier or god forbid fun to drive. :) |
