Cobra owner wanna be
WCCC:
I have decided the time has come to finally own a cobra. Although I secretly coveted the ownership since driving one in 1966, I went astray and suffered through the ownership of a couple of porches and datsuns. My oldest son inquired as to what he could do for me to repay for all the support I have afforded him over the years, I said a cobra, he is still laughing, so I guess it is up to me. I have a line on a Superperformance roller, and I already have a mild 351 Windsor. I figure I can get the whole works on the street for about $45 to $50K. Is this a good deal? Should I continue shopping? (And, by the way I have been informed by my commander that I do not have time to build a kit due to my age and all my other projects.) Thanks in advance for any input and encouragement. |
You ought to look at this Cobra and read all the goodies are in it for one hell of a good price:

This is a good deal, keep reading the forums, go out and meet the people. Welcome to the club!
SPF roller 35 -42K on an engine a 302 or a 351 block will have plenty of zoom. |

I bought mine used and it has worked out great.
See the attached thread for a great FFR Cobra for sale. I saw it at the LCS and like others said, it is a great build. Not sure if you are set on a SFP or using your engine, but I suggest you consider this one. It is in the St Louis area. http://www.ffcobra.com/forums/showthread.php?t=195118 Also, see the thread about the WCCC going to Byron Oct 18 for some fun drag racing. You could see some of the different builds and meet some of the WCCC members, if you have not met many before. I assume you are in the Chicago area. If the weather is good I might be there too, but not to race. Good luck, it is a great year to buy a Cobra (soft market), sorry to you sellers. Lee |
The more cars you drive, the better decision you will make. Not all replicas are alike. And if you're tall like me (6'3"), you'll learn soon enough that you can't fit in all of them comfortably. Now that you have the green light from the boss, TAKE YOUR TIME and buy the right car. Lots of deals out there...buyer's market.
FWIW, you should be able to buy a low mileage SPF turn-key in your price range, no problem. Build quality is consistent with an SPF-esque replica, that you are assured of. Good luck! -Dean |
NVIROMN,
Welcome to the sickness. Where are you located at? You are more than welcome to join us at one of our events and check out some of the local cars. Like Lee said, Saturday is a trip to Byron Dragway. |

Chris, it sound like that HOT Arizona sun is having an effect on Red Snake mine, talking about you selling "old blue".

Ralphie has lost his mind, If he ever had one in the first place.

All,
Thanks for the prompt advice. I have been "out of country" and email range for 3 weeks and apologize for not giving thanks sooner. I bought the Superperformance after trying a few replicas on for size. Dean, your prompt made me recall I am 6' 4' ( or as my Dad used to say, "a terrible waste of height"). With a minor seat track mod (removal) I seem to fit OK once I am in the vehicle (getting old is tough). Hopefully with my schedule I can be on the road next spring. Chris, I am in Wauconda. Hal |
Congrats!
And welcome to the madness! Eric |

I'm 6 ft 5 inches and here is a thread on the things I did to make my SPF more comfortable. Congrats on your new baby. http://clubcobra.com/forums/showthre...919#post783919 |
