We paid the taxes at the DMV when we registered the vehicle. Don't feel bad, we thought you paid taxes when the vehicle was registered/titled too. At least that's what the DMV in Waukegan said when we bought the kit many moons ago. We'll find out exactly what penalties the state sees fit to impose on us when they send us a notice. As for the inspection, I know the house bill says it needs to pass a safety inspection before the registration, but the DMV in Libertyville did not request proof of such inspection. I know several other folks that have registered their Cobras and have not been required to show proof of a safety inspection. Now, when I built my LA Exotics kit, somebody from the state did come out after the car was registered and affixed a 'Specially Constructed Vehicle' plate on the door jam. Of course, that was 6 years before the house bill was enacted. |

Update - Shell Valley build
Well, I took a break from working on Buddy's car and Jeff's car. Instead, I got the roll bar and rear bumper installed on my Shell Valley. I just need to get the front-end aligned to make it road worthy.

Go to the currency exchange to apply for title and reg. They're clueless and you'll get it done. I got my tags before I got the inspection. There is an inspector in Cary if you need one.
