    Clois...
Well after no small amount of messing about, I finally went with option C, which is to transfer the title over directly, using the wacky NY VIN tag. Once that's done and settled, I'll then go back and see what I can do about changing it back to the chassis VIN number, but initially no one wanted to get involved.
It currently has a valid tag on it - although the tag office (Central Park @ 81st and Elm) transposed the names and so I got my first OK title with the SELLER'S name on it. What can you do but laugh it off, right? I contacted them and they're fixing it.
Thanks for your cell number. Next time I'm in town with the car, would love to get together for your evaluation. Or a slurpee...
    Thanks again...
    Rick

    Clois...
I am the new owner of BDR #465 and wondered if you could help with registering in OK. I too reside in BA, although I work in Denton, TX so am gone most all the time.
My car was built by Jay's team at VMS, for a client in NY, who then consigned the car back through Jay and that's how it came to be mine. NY registered this car with it's own state issued ID tag, which is NY69436. So in coming back to OK, I petitioned them to register the car with it's Backdraft racing VIN number, (regular 17 digit number) but the OK DMV is saying I need to get that changed through the NY DMV.
I can either dive headlong into the NY DMV system and see what I get, but if they didn't originally register the car that way, why would they change? Or I can petition Jay and the finance dude to intercede on my behalf. OR, (need to verify this with OK first) I can simply convert the title over with the weird VIN number to an okie title.
Any light you can shed on this, sir?
    Thanks...
    Rick Selman
